086 works great with a round header

yes buggy. Alright. I just figure the 2072 is better then the 086 because its made for the go's by go. You sell them? How much?

Either will work nicely. I find I get better run times out of the 086 personally, and the 5 Ports do like that pipe (so do the 3 Ports & MG's).
Hey rcdude, I can't believe you had no bottom end with the 7 Port ?????????
I had run a 7 in my buggy for some time before I changed to the MG66, and it could be a handfull if the track wasn't up to it. Plenty of punch for a buggy with the 2072 pipe IMO, and the top end - well

I agree with Flanno totally - first choice for buggy is the MG66. Can't be beaten in this range of motors - smooth, powerful with top end that has to be experianced to be be realised, no kidding. Close behind is the GX-7R - sweet power band for a buggy with ballistic top end as well.

Unless you run real grippy tracks, the 5 Port is a bit of a handfull in the buggy, unless geared and clutched to quiten that stump pulling bottom end. Good in the winter months if your tracks get muddy. It has the extra bottom end to help carry the added weight build up during prolonged races in the soft conditions.
The 3 port is a sweet buggy motor on smaller tighter tracks. Lovely smooth power band, but just lacking a little in the top end on bigger tracks with long straights (unless you fit the MG66 modded crank and an 086 pipe - then it's quite nasty )

Truggy, GX5r, 086 = 11.5 minutes on large open track

Buggy, GX7r, 2072 = 9.5 minutes on the same track

I DO NOT have a smooth throttle finger either

He he - me neither

With the 086 on the MG in my buggy I can do 20 min on one stop (this is a smaller track with no hard out straights, running 7mm restrictor).
On my home track which is a fast flowing layout with several full throttle sections I can get around 9 mins with the same set up on a good day.

ya i hated that 7 port but i did really like run times at like 12 minutes. i got the 5 potr because i have a lot of medium grip tracks wiht jumps out of corners that are killer to hit.

Sweet !! If you have good grip and are faced with jumps just out of the corners like you describe then the 5 Port will kick butt with it's extra bottom end for sure. That's the nice thing with the GO GX range - there is a motor for every occasion

I have no idea what problems you guys are having with your 7 port engines, but mine screams. It has so much low end torque its hard to get traction and the high end is ridicoulus. I have a 3 port, 5 port (pos engine) and a 7 port and run the 7 port in my 8 2.0 buggy and the 3 port in my 8-t 2.0 truggy. Both engines are fantasic with the exception of the 5 port i had repinched, but i think that was due to carb issues and i have a new one on the way to resolve that.

jwm2 - have you tried the 7 in your truggy and the 3 in your buggy ???

That is the combo I would run (not having seen the tracks you run of course).
We have a few guys running the GX 7R in their truggies and they haul butt Run 3 x alloy shoes with all 1.1 springs, or the JVD (Ascendency) 4 shoe clutch with the gold 1.0 springs - NICE

i tryed the 3 alloys with 1.1mms as you told me... just way to much torq.
it loves just one 1.1 spring. still with a heap of grunt... almost too much but just how i like it. sideways from standing start
