well i just bought a used motor and was wondering, with the flywheel off, does the crank have back and forth play?....i took the back plate off and the con rod has no play on the pin but the crank can be pushed in and out just a lil bit?...is this normal or no?:(

deadmancourt 08-05-2010 02:32 PM

the C6TF is a cold plug , the nova plugs with the letter F in them is cold. Freddo in italian is Cold . F Cheers MM

deadmancourt heat the motor up with a heat gun before u fire it up & all will be good. the motor isn't run in yet by the sounds of it & the crank play is normal without the flywheel !
have a good look at the head button with a small flat blade screwdriver & see if you have the shimes there as 1 is the same color as the head button & the copper ones might be under it !
hope this helps

Do the venturi carbs on ebay work on the older 5 port engines? I just had my 5 port repinched and it doesn't want to hold a tune, the idle is all over the place and it likes to flame out on me. I am hoping a new carb will get it back to where it needs to be.

thank you!....i put it all back together and sat it out in the sun for 30mins cause i dont own a heat gun and it runs great!....i didnt really even drive it but just fired it made sure it idles and blipped it acouple times and all is good....sounds great!....about the shims, right before i put it back together i tried what you said and found 1 thick shim, the same color as the button head, but no other shims!...should there be any more shims! i only run 20%...i have a few old shims some thin, some thick, but none as thick as the 1 thats on this motor!
