so both 1thick and 1thin copper?...so there will be a total of 3 shims including the real thick aluminum colored 1?....how thick are each of these shims?...would i be going to .7mm or .4?

MAGPIE-121 08-05-2010 05:22 PM

.7 as .3 is built into the head button, when it's run in remove the .2 shime & u should be in the ballpark depending on the quality of the fuel u use. JMO others might differ but read the text on shiming from the link & keep an eye on your pipe temps

deadmancourt 08-05-2010 05:25 PM

runs great!

MAGPIE-121 08-05-2010 05:31 PM

Now i got another problem. The screw that tightens the carb neck broke inside the carb neck :/ This engine is just a hassle, maybe i'll just chuck it and keep it for parts.

the pipe should be cooler than the head !

quote from MM
" The more shims you run the lower the comp ratio, less tank time, and the cooler your head will run but this will give you hotter exhaust temps so if you are melting bodies thats why !"

IMO the fuel is being burnt outside the exhaust port i think because of the lack of compression !

try this : heat up the carby neck around the bolt head & u should be able to pull the bolt head out.
then with a very small screwdriver put it through the hole & tap out the other side of the pinch bolt & repeat for the other side
the pinch bolt is cheap so don't give up just yet !

Well half of the screw came out when it broke, which is the part with the head. I'll try heating it up and see what happens. It'll give me something to work on this evening ;)
