i just got the go .28 6 port and breaking in the motor. it came with 2 .004 head shims installed and 1 .008 not installed. i installed the .008 with the 2 .004's for breakin.
what shims should i use after breakin, im using byrons 25% with 11% oil.
thanks. this is my first go engine.

Hi GNS. Not sure about the stock shimming for the .28 motor. We are only allowed to run .21 in truggy here (silly national body rules), so there aren't any .28 GO's floating around. I am guessing the extra .008 shim that came with it is a break-in shim, and the shims that came installed is the stock set up, but can't be 100% sure on that. I know some of the guys on here run the .28 so I am sure they will pop up and confirm that for you.

just a quick question....................i also just got another....lol........GO 3 port, instructions say 12 tanks for break-in..........that sounds like alot, i was told on other forums that 5 tanks is good for a proper break-in, any thoughts on this????

i hered kilfishes engine today and it skips on the topend. what could cause this. Hes running the breakin shim installed with a o.s. p3 plug. It revs good then almost deisels. temp was around 230*

After a long hard decision I am selling all my Go engines, I have decided not to run them or sell them anymore. I will still rebuild them and any brand motor, I will find a source for parts.

Here is a link to my thread, there are new and used motors, some of these used ones really rip. They are priced very low and I will stand behind them.

Interesting fact of the day , most people swear by the OS carb for ease of tuning . Did you know that the OS carb is also a long LSN needle set up ? Similar to the Go carb. Its a great system , once you learn to use it .

The Os carb is totally different.

lol rex i could say the sky is blue and you would state the opposite , funny man . :batman:

Ok, in my observation the Os carb orfice where the fuel comes out is much larger. This allows it to let more fuel flow when the needle is still in the orfice. The Os carb also has an adjustable spraybar. One thing I don't like about running the long low speed needle is the end point on your throttle servo determines hom much fuel flow there is.
I am not saying the long needle can't work, Kendall has one in his motor right now.

The fact that both carbs have a long needle in
them is about the only thing that they have in
common. The GO carb will never be as easy to
tune as the O.S. carb. The GO carb will never
produce the run times that the O.S. carb will on
a GO engine. The only thing I don't care for is
the throttle slide boot on the O.S. carb. The
ultimate carb to run on a GO engine is the O.S.
with a Novarossi carb boot.
Rex, I'm glad to here that you joined the Alpha U.S.A.
team. I heard they really have it going on, as far as
there race program and they treat there dealers really
great too.

yup gx3r and gx7r make the engine troubles go away :) one for a smaller track. and the big 7 port with 1.1 spring and two 1 springs for a big long track. cant lose then.

personally i own a gx7r, for a smaller track i lower my venturie size & run two 1.1 and one 1mm spring.it has a hell of a bottom end then :)
