Still original main bearing and rod, spare's still in my box.
The boss (Mark) asked me to bring her in for a measure up etc...

MM asked, you sure you been running this thing, if it wasn't for the carbon around the porting he would have assumed it was new. ;)

Main bearing still fine, no slop on conrod/crank pin....crank pin wear measured only 0.003mm after 20+ littres

or was it 0.0003mm ?

I'm not sure if I'v typed that rite, I'm sure Mark will correct me. :D

Looks like "will g" is giving up on the GO engines.
He's got some great prices on the GO engines
and parts he's dumping though.

I wonder if he's making room for some GXs.

Well, you can't argue with that.
The guy who owns the show should know whats going on (hopefully :)).
We were told different, but it seems there was some confusion on this subject. You have to believe what the guy at the top says is correct.
I will bake up a little serving of humble pie for dessert tonight :D
Thanks for sorting that out Trey.

Just as a footnote: With the Govarossi motor, we tried a 21-0600 rod on the Nova crank, but it was a little sloppy (worn crank pin maybe we thought). We tried a 28-0600 rod and it was a real nice fit ?? Just a difference in tolerances between batches maybe? I don't really wanna know. End of debate as far as I'm concerned, but I will still be keeping the older 28-0600 rods in stock just in case the big guy got misinformed too :)

As Previously Mentioned the Rod and Crank tolerance change was made during the Gen 5 phase of engine build. The Part number remained the same till the Gen 5.5 was released then the same rod was changed in part number. So there is no need for Humble Pie , the information that was given is correct.

The fact that you tried a 21-0600 and found it was sloppy means its a larger diameter than the original 28-0600 illustrating my point , id say the rod you had was before the tolerance change , the way to tell other than measiuring it is to look at the bottom yoke and lightening groove , the 28-0600 the groove dosent square off or it may have no groove at all , the newer ones with larger bottom yoke does.

NOW realise that the 28-0600 is still in production but its been relegated the number of the RTR Rod , its not meant to be in the GX or MG range of engines. . It shares the new dimensions changed in the range of rods and crank pins.

I hope this clears things up.

Cheers MM

the Gx carbs definately work on the older engines no problem at all and the gen 5.5s came with the coated wrist pin so I'd say it's still stock but I'd still put in a new rod just for peice of mind:D

Yes GX Carbs are retrofittable back to gen 5

Regarding Go Rods in other engines , you will probably find that as long as the engine you want to fit it to has a yoke centre measurement of 29.50 mm there is a good chance it will work. You can also use a Hyper .21 rod in a nova as long as the cranks worn a tad . You can also try using a Force .25 rod in a CMB .21 marine engine they are interchangeable.

Lots ao parts are interchangable as standards are very similar across the board

Cheers Massive, I thought that piece of pie was hard to swallow. It just didn't want to go down Ha ha
It's all good here. GX motors are TQ'ing and winning club events, and everyone is more than impressed with the motors they have purchased, plus the MG66's are starting to turn some heads too
It all looks good for 2010

its cool , thats just the confusion that comes from people trying to undermine others position in order to make themselves look better. In the end they look like they have no idea and it confuses people. ANyways ! if you want a real answer you can always ask me.

And Cheers Re the MG .. we Just had a TQ and Podium in Penang recently with it , the Malaysians are very happy with the engine so far !

Cheers MM

what rods will fit the GRPs? they are getting very hard to find.

MassiveMods 01-17-2010 02:20 PM

Hey All

We have some excellent news , we have the MG66 being tested by an indipendant company in the USA . They have 2 MG66 engines that will be thrashed to the bejesus , dyno tested , endurance tested and any other kind of mad cruelty that can be dished out, This is basically what they do for a living so we are really excited about the results we will get !

Stay Tuned !

kaptain crash 01-17-2010 02:31 PM

You guys have me all twisted-up as what parts fit what gen. motors

kaptain crash 01-17-2010 02:34 PM
