is the eb mods go 5 port the same engine as the new go gx5r, have a chance to get one that is still new in box, the race prep version, but i still want to be able to find parts if i need them.

It is not the same. The carb is diffrent but you can rebuild it with the gx5 parts.

Pretty much everything will fit the Ebm5, the Eb motors have the coated crank too so it should last as long as the new Gx motors.

Hi Patricio,

I ran the 0801 on my 7 Port and it was great, but the EFRA 2072 is better. You will find better power right across the rev range with the 2072 IMO.
But if I couldn't run the 2072 my next choice on the 7 would be the 0801, followed by the FEMCA 2047 pipe with the longer 0801 header, then the Dynamite 053.

I am going to post this because I was warned and did not listen, STAY AWAY FROM RB MODS AT ALL COSTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I will take this as lesson learned [the hard way]

bigmatt 03-12-2010 06:06 PM

I have gotten 2 messages about what I wrote. I am not going to sit here and give out names and details. It's just what I stated and I am leaving it at that. I learned my lesson and it cost me. Now I need to do the credit card B.S. If you need more power get a gx series or the mg66 which is a fantastic engine. Go to answer rc or rex22 for the mg66, or to get a gx get a hold of rex22. Also Rex I do believe mods engines. I know he does the cranks.

I will also back up this statement of bigmatts.
I personaly know two guys that feel that they
too learned a lesson the hard way.

When you find good people, stick with them at all costs.

I can't say enough about Rex and Trey. These guys are the main reason I'm sticking with Go engines. Great people that really know their stuff, stand by it, and are mostly about putting smiles on the faces of the people they're helping...those kinds of people are very rare.

In the grand scheme of things we can all find good, relatively inexpensive engines. We can all buy our way out of dealing with things. But finding great people...not so easy.

That's very high praise, and much appreciated.

By the way, I'll be publishing pricing information on the new starter boxes, cooler kits, flywheels, shoes, and springs next week. Also, I'll be posting exploded views for the GX engines, plus the .25 and .28 pro engines.

Anyways, just want to give you guys a shout out from the RC Pro Texas state series, near Houston. I'm here, as well as puddin' and some of the local Go team (Tmizzle MIA, noted. No answers to emails, noted.). Great turnout across both sportsman and expert playing fields. Mike's hobby and Gulf Coast Raceway have a great setup going here. Lots of pit area and a DIALED track. Looking forward to putting some more track time in with my GX-5R/2072 combo in my brand-spanking-new MBX6T! Still have some tweaking to do, but man I cant wait to hit the track again some more... but for now... sleep.

Hi. I have a GX5R with half a gallon through it. Would I be able to put a mild tune on this thing and just take it easy until I reach the 1 gallon mark. There's still loads of pinch so i'm pre heating this engine up before every start.
