So far with our testing I wouldn't say the 2072 is really a top end pipe..It has awesome trigger feel and a great midrange punch, but it definitely doesn't rev as high as some of the other pipes we have tested so far...The 2072 has a very long header and I am thinking in some cases using a shorter header may give a bit more top end runout....... So far with the latest modified GX 7 port/2072 we aren't seeing the same top end charge as our modified V-Spec.... However it is still very early to tell, the engine is still very new and very tight and running reduced compression, so we will reevaluate after its fully broken in and the extra shims are removed...... But by comparison so far I would say the 086 gives more top end then the 2072 does......The 2072 has more midrange punch, but the 086 will ring out better on the topside...In truggy the 2072 in buggy the 086 ( or 2072 on shorter header )... The GX7 on 2072 feels awesome so far in Truggy, but in the Buggy we feel it could use more RPM

I'm a little surprised to hear you say that about straights.... Not trying to be big noting, but the only car I've seen come close to the MG66 in truggy is a Ninja & I've watch another guy at our club running a MG66 in his Losi 8ight 2.0 buggy just eat the competition & we both use 6.5mm restrictors. mmmmm, might need to investigate, these motor have some seriously long legs, they continue to rev higher after most others have topped out.

very very sorry this motor rips

I'm pretty much set on the MG66, I cant see how OS can justify the ridiculous prices, ditto RB.
How well does the JP4 work with the MG66 compared to the Go 2072?
Is 10 minutes a tank easily doable ?
Cheers

Wait until it loosens up a bit. Also, when you remove the shim from the top end, you increase the compression considerably. You'll notice some more pull on the top, but I'll let your results speak for themselves. Also, you should try the GX-5R w/ the 2072 pipe in truggy! Also, remember that you're pitting a bone stock motor against a modded one. Still, I'm quite confident you'll be happy with the results.

When it comes to modifieds the 7 port is a superior platform as opposed to the 5 port..... The 5 and 7 port are the exact same engine except the 7 port has a much larger exhaust port...Bigger exhaust port= more power........In Buggy we are taming down the modified 7 port by using a weighted flywheel..... In Truggy its an absolute monster with gobs of bottom end torque........
The OS V-Spec has a much shorter stroke and a longer rod, it is going to rev easier then the Go which has a long stroke and short rod...The modded Go will easily outrun the stock OS, but the modified OS is pretty crazy on the top end...I will see what happens once all these GO's fully loosen up.... One of the 7 ports is at 2-2.5 gallons ans screaming on a 0801 on a short header, the other is in a Truggy at 10 tanks into life on 2072, and the third is on just under 1/2 gallons and been raced in Buggy 2072,extra shim and weighted flywheel.............The one in buggy is showing good torque and power but lacking in the top end RPM so far... But as I say I dont think such a long header is needed for Buggy, the modded 7 port has awesome torque as it is.....
My dyno will be here by the weekend and I will do a full testing on all the pipes......2072 included........
Also I am not knocking the 2072...its a very nice pipe..I just dont need to boost the bottom on my modified engines so the longer header isn't needed for my application...

My MG66 is running a 7mm carb venturi and a 2072 pipe with 0.2mm head shims and I was timing 12m10 tank time on tarmac last week driving like a madman at full throttle..Temps rock steady 110-120ºC..umm about 230-240F.If I tweak the HSN a fraction I can get 14m+ but the temps are a touch high..I don't need more than 12m anyway..

Yeh was a great days demo on the hard stuff till I destroyed my 3rd set of rear diff gear/pinions..bugger!The MG66 was so fast I was running quicker than all but the top 2 mp9ers even with effectively only front wheel drive..my brakes seem to have finally bedded in too as I had to back off the brake servo throw from 70% to 40% to stop it snatching too hard..I think the weather is going to stop any more fun till the spring now..hasn't stopped raining here for 3 weeks now..got new 200sq metre pit stands to put up soon as it stops raining and a load of work to do on the track as well as spending lot of time in the paint studio sharpening up my airbrush skills for next year.Oh and the heli to fly so at least the winter isn't going to be boring!

I will be home from the mines this weekend and will race tune my MG66 and see wat times i am getting out of the big girl!
Chris, i ran OS Speeds for a long time as my main race engine and bought a MG66 just to see how they go, and let me tell you i will not be going back any time soon! This engine rocks!!!!
Grizz or anyone, are you running just .2 head shims? So that would be a total of .5!?
I am running .8 total on 30% is this ok or could i bump the compression up!?

ry running .2 giving you a total of .5 will be all okey mate when i was using 30% this is what i used with no probs at all , it will give you better fuel economy raise engine temps and lower the exhaust temps so your sick ass painted nodies wont be melting away

i can say that using a 7 port with jp4 pipe the buggy was getting 10 mins since using the 2072 pipe havnt turned back , so i would assume that you would get 10 mins with the MG66 to mate
