All up I still only have 2 litres through the MG66, including todays race meeting. Gave it it's first proper outing on the track today, and it performed admirably. Ran sweet all day. I was leaning it a little each heat as we went along, but it was still quite rich right on top during the final. Even this rich it has oodles of grunt. Jabbing the throttle out of the hairpin produced some two wheel antics on several occasions, but driven sensibly it is very smooth and easy to drive. After another couple of litres when it is at proper race tune it wil be impressive. Run time was a bit hard to put a figure on because of it's rich tune. We were running a warm up lap then 5 min heats today, so all up you are on the track for 6 min from a full tank. I was coming in just a tad under half a tank after 6 mins. I am guessing in race tune with ceramic bearings, that 12 min could be atained without pushing the tune too far. All I am looking for is 10 min tanks with a little left over, in case I need to finish a lap, or just cut the timer and have to do an extra lap in a 10 min heat, which is what we run for most bigger events here. Heats with no fuel stops are nice

anyway how arre you finding it to tune is it alot differant to the the old carbs ? look forward to getting this motor in my buggy and running it in work just wont end fast enough 14 days away and new toys at home not helpling man ........

In general I would say the 66 tunes easier than my other GO's. From straight out of the box it has run beautifully. It holds it's tune and idles like a dream.
Matt - I have experimented with both long and short low speed needles on my motors now. I have come to the conclusion that the short needle is a little easier to tune, but the long needle once you get the hang of how it works, provides slightly better performance (smoother) and slightly better economy. Would you agree ?

yes i would agree what you are saying about the needles , personnly i have come quiet used to the long needles and i like to tune with the longer lpn , i to have tried the shorter needle but only to put the long one back in
your rite as you do need a little more patiance in tuning the longer lsp but well rewarding when done
i have been teaching my brother to tune the Go Techs and he getting better i just have to slap him behind the head when tunes far to early i like to get a tank through tune and check tune on the second tank where he will do 3-4 laps and tune..... so i banned him from tuning i do for it him

We are approaching the 10 litre mark on our MG66's and they are running a treat....

No slop in the rod yet and plenty of pinch at TDC. We have found that we are averaging better run time with the blue dot over the A - Main (about 30-45 seconds more).
Our rtack has a very long straight at our track (over 60 metres) and the top end of the engines is just amazing

As others have said you need to be very careful with the HSN (1 hour makes a huge difference).

this is why i love my gotechs ...this motor hasnt been ran in a year ...had 2-3 gal on it i replaced the rod... threw it in my brand new truggy ...havnt driven a trug in 2 years..made the a-main in a very competitive field .. motor was a little rich and my travel on throttle servo was @ %70 this motor has a 6mm restictor in it also...

I had a football sock over the head and the temps stayed in the 190- 220F range as the tank emptied very impressive start to run in. as it beds in ill lower the idle screw but so far happy happy.

hey all. I just put my 2nd gallon on my 5 port. Is a new con rod mandotory? I just raced a cancer race this weekend and the thing flew. Only had 1 flame out in front of drivers stand with 2 mins left in my 20 min A main all weekend. My pit man got me fired right back up and i did not loose a position and finished 4th. the moter runs fine with just a little oil from the front bearing but nothing bad. thanks in advance.
