I am going after the GX 5 port. I dont mess with the gearing in my cars. I belive they came the way they should be and for pipes, I find what I like and stick with it. I may swap out a restricter or some clutch changes if needed thats all.

Russ said he would order some but we need to tell him who many

If the backplate is just a regular backplate with no pullstart or Rotostart it is setup for a starter box. You do not need to change anything.

I remember a while back reading that people were dropping a head shim after break in at about 1.5 gallons.. I am almost too that point and the motor is starting to come alive. was wondering if any one has any pointers on how much to take out. sorry I dont have more time to re read a couple hundred posts.
I am running 30% on Od 99t or 97t plugs, thanks in advance
Rob

I take a shim out after a gallon or so. They come with 1 aluminum and 2 thin brass, take one thin brass out. This will be fine for 30%.
Do not confuse this with the break in shim, I never use that.

Guys,

Wnyone knows of any turbo button to fit on our .25 engine ?

thanks,

22Racer 08-09-2009 06:32 PM

I have 2 new ones, but I don't like to ship outside of the Us. Last race my son ran his .25 with the turbo button and a shim added for a little timing and it was a rocket.

Go to the previous page and click on the link in my post (second to last post), to the Massive Mods Shimming 101 article. All your questions will be answered.
Basically your changing the compression ratio. This can have good or bad outcomes depending on what else you do with nitro %, plug heat etc.

after reading all that 101 info quiet a while back,i was amazed in the differance in performance of my engines and just how much easier they are to tune

Tralalala MG66 in the post from massive today..Just couldn't resist the ceramic bearing upgrade for after the run in either...

I found out from mark today that the new engines come with 2 different rods..A heavier one fitted for the run in and the spare included with the motor..these gen 5.5 rods are the new "knife edge " type ..lighter and more streamlined apparently..

I presume this is for all the new engines and not just the MG66....

HI, I know people run the dynamite #86 pipe with there 5 ports but how does the GO FEMCA 0801 Exhaust Pipe run ?
reason im asking is the dynamite is still on order with suppliers and I found a GO pipe set at a good price. Almost half that of the dynamite lol

From reading that Shimming 101 article this is what I gather for my application (Losi 8ight 1.0 with a GO 3 port sport,Dynamite 086, 20% nitro)

Either no shim or a .1 shim for a total of .4mm
Medium Hot plug, running an OS #8 (medium) right now. Sounds like I need to try a #7?

Any thoughts?
