.MM5 7 port p/r/s unused and ready to run in anyone

Hey Giz, that sucks big time bro. But as they say, every cloud has a silver lining. Now you get to run an MG66 (it's a no brainer - that is your only course of action :D). Gee, I love spending other peoples money

Mate, from what I have seen of the prototype Gen 6 6 port which Retro RC tried here, plus the fact that the production MG66 is more advanced than that motor, and knowing what workmanship and high standards Mark at Massive Mods sets, I would not hesitate to go for the MG66 as a replacement.
It is going to be one hell of a motor. It's not only extremely powerful, but is designed to be very drivable as well.
Glad to hear the 2072 is repairable. Man, you did have a bad day at the track :(

Gizmatron 07-05-2009 03:22 PM

Yeh spoke to mom and the wife and both will cough half the difference between what I have in cash and the cost of the MG66 for my b'day on the 27th..so it's happening..YEH!

The track day was actually great..I was a little off form as I caught my left index finger (read throttle/brake finger) in the baling machine last sunday and ripped it half off.. 3 hours and 12 stitches later it's properly attached again..needless to say it's still bandaged and doesn't bend so I was driving with my second finger which is a little awkward but still was having probably my best drive all season so far...shit happens..I think my karma was sending me toward s an MG66 personally..tee hee

re the 7 port I think when I broke the rod last month it must have hit the bottom of the crankcase and weakened it so when I pinched the sleeve and increased the compression back to almost new again it slowly pushed the bearing through the case..bummer but that's the way it goes sometimes..I did manage to change the 3 port in and still finish 8th..not too bad..

Who cares I'm buying an MG66..FTW

mattwoodcraft 07-05-2009 03:52 PM

dam that sounds painful bro  what happen to your finger .....

mmmmmmmmm the best part is your getting a MG66....

happy birthday when it arrives man

malik 07-05-2009 04:39 PM

The MG66 well all of the MG's are brobably the best looking mills on the planet. I have been wanting MG but my Sponsorship doesnt cross the ocean. I wish it did. They are alot of loot,I should have thought about that before I had 4 kids LOL. I was trying to get the MG44 a while ago just couldnt make it happen. Awesome job on them Massive.

Another thing I wanted to let you guys know the Caster Grenade pipe works awesome on the 3 and 5 ports, havent tried it on a 7. On my 5 it smoothes out the range and screams up top even better than the Dynamite 086 and gives me like an extra minute of runtime. I want to try the header off it on the Dynamite pipe. The pipes are the same length but the Caster pipe is much wider and has a taper at the end. the header on the Caster pipe is much longer and looks like it has 1 of them Novarossi extenders built in it. Its A good pipe. I haven got my 2072 yet still havent hit the states.

mattwoodcraft 07-05-2009 05:04 PM

i cant really compare with the pipes you have run when i was waiting for my 2072 i ran the motor in on a 2053 .. that pipe seemed to very good heaps of run time but when i got my 2072 DAM it was a differant beast i run this on the moded 3 port :)

you will love your 2072 and look sideways at anyone who skates towards your pipe side of the car in fear  if they catch that is :)

Got to actually race the .21 7p frankenmotor today (the rains have been terrible the last 6 weeks). Out of 13 entrants for 1/8 buggy, I qualified 12th. I was between 5 and 6 seconds off the 30s pace. I made it through two 5-minute heats with ok, but not great power. Just for grins I temped at 228, so I figured I could lean it out another .5 hour. The B-Main went horrible as I was lean bogging and came off the track at 278. Something wasn't right with my tuning philosophy. One positive is that I made the entire 10 minutes and still had some fuel left.

When I bought the motor I remember a number of people complaining about the long LSN and I assumed I had it, but the needle pulled out around half. I tried tuning it with the intermediate settings, but that was horribly wrong. So I stuck to the long recommendations. I got home tonight and measured ... and it's 1.44" (aka short LSN). Reading back over the notes I took, the long and short needles both are around 2.5 turns in from flush. The big difference is in the HSN, which is .5 on the long and 2.5 on the short. That explains why the long settings worked well during the first gallon and gradually got worse.

I certainly feel humbled tonight.

On the bright side, my 0801 pipe has a bent stinger which means I should have the perfect excuse to get the new pipe soon :-D

malik 07-05-2009 05:09 PM

The 2035 is basically an 053 which wouldnt work well on the 3 or 5 UNLESS modded. once the mill is modded you can try others and may find something better. I actually want 1 of them AE piipes you have because the guy who modded my 3 changed the timing and says it now need a longer pipe like yours or a 1005, 2060 ect, so if you have no use for it let me know I may take it off your hands.
