Mark,
was running the MM5 today and ran out of 25% switched to 30% and my temps jumped almost 100 degrees F! What's up with that?

Was temping at 230 with the 25% temp was 320 with the 30%

Same needle settings!

Obviously had to fatten her up a little bit and change from a 6.5 to 7mm restrictor to get the temps in a reasonable range. I could only get it dow to about 260-270. Going back to 25% for the race tomorrow

rkhess 04-17-2009 11:34 PM

whats the difference between the 5.5 rod and the older one? does amain have the gen 5.5? or is it gen 5?

does racefactor still do the contigency program?

and last but not least WHO HAS THE NEW WHITE GO ENGINE T-SHIRT?:p

thanks in advance

fyi - stephen lang/rc special is a great guy to deal with- he admits to not speak/type very clear english --he list's the part numbers so their shouldnt be any confusion on what your buying ---ive used him for the past 2 years never had a problem with him or his products--

just my opinion

Sounds like maybe the two fuels had a big difference in oil content or type.
I wouldn't think you would get a 100 deg diff normally

mfrosty 04-18-2009 02:16 AM

Both were Byrons Gen2 9% oil, only difference was the nitro content.

man that is weird....ive made the same switch with a PTM GO .25 durring the nitro feul crisis last year... temps did change but minor tunning adjustments brought the temps down to normal and i really didnt notice a performance difference at all

Man my ptm 5 port with a 6.5mm restrictor is still way too much for buggy off the line. I guess I an going to have to get maybe a 5 or 5.5 mm venturi to try but I am not trying to pay $15 for 1 when the whole go set is $13. Sucks to be my.

dunno what radio you are using but my futaba 3pks has 2 settings I use all the time to tame starts on my buggy...first allows you to just slow down the throttle servo response over a preset %age of its travel..In low grip conditions I just set it to respond 20-25% slower over the first 25% of the travel ...just stops it spinning out without me having to concentrate on being gentle with the throttle finger. You can always program a spare button to turn it on or off at a single push if you want to get full initial servo speed back mid race..

If I can be bothered it also has a one off setup option just for flying starts..you do a few test runs from a standing start just like race kickoff and work out roughly what % throttle you can bang on to get maximum acceleration without wheelspin or slide then assign a button to control it..as the countdown goes to 5,4,3 and the cars are released I hit the button and then just for the first yank of the throttle the radio only applies the preset throttle servo travel..say 60%..means I can just bang it to max knowing it won't spin away..after that it cancels and works as normal..

I had put a stock 5 port turbo in my Cen Matrix buggy and I felt it had too much torque for my rig. I would definately recommend the 7 port for buggy. I ended up putting my 5 port in my brick on wheels TR Arena truggy, before I did the BCE conversion, and I have been pleased with the performance so far.

Yeah I have a Powerhouse 3 port in the works right now hopefully that will be alittle better. But I am going to get a IDRC 5.5 for my 5 port. I had that in my TR arena klast year and I would pull Jammin and OS .28's on the straight with a 8 mmm venturi those guys wewe mad at me weekly I loved it Tree I am still not able to fix the radio issue you got some more words of wisdom for me?

today was my very first day of ever driving on a track. I live in northern ca. and joined tmrc a local club. I own 2 go tec's. first ebmodded 5port,second bone stock 7 port normal burn head. 5port is in a hyper 8.5 and the 7 port is in my jammin x2. the 5 port was almost uncontrollable, the 7 port was better. the 7 port really surprised me. that thing can sh*t and get. each one started right up and idled every time I flipped and crashed, landed upside down. these engines are flawless I will say no one pulled away from me. I guess like every one else, practice, practice and practice some more. I will say I can see why a lot of people run truggy's-tires twice as wide easier to control. Until I learned to power on and off and slide the cars, it was a bitch. But all in all I had a blast and my go tec's never once flamed out or failed me. They both held their tunes perfect all day. thanks to everyone who has helped me with the in site into how to tune these engines. It made the whole experience a lot more pleasant knowing I did not need to chase a tune.

I can't really remember what I did to get it to bind. I bought that radio for my son and I really don't use it. When I purchased it I did the initial set-up and binding procedure and I haven't really used it since. When I get home from work tonight, I will take a look at the radio and see how and the hell I got it to work.
