That's good to know. Anyone out there tried any of the McCoy plugs on the 5 port yet?

I've decided on the Massive Mods modded 3 port race engine, with FULL break-in service. They even asked what type of fuel/nitro content I'd be using, as well as what pipe and which glow plug I'd use (most likely 086 and OS P3), so they can closely replicate those conditions when they break it in for me!

Now that's as turn-key as you can get, and FANTASTIC customer service!!!

I'll keep everyone posted...

Yep - Massive Mods is the best we have down here in Australasia. Product and service is tops.
Glad you went with the modded 3 Port R Spec, you won't be disapointed. Have fun kicking butt at the track with your "budget motor"

Yep - P3 or P4 is a good choice for the GO. OS plugs are getting a little more expensive now, but for an extra dollar or two I think the performance edge and longevity of these plugs in the GO motors is worth it.

The man is propably flat out bro. I doubt he will be able to help you with a distributor anyway. I am assuming you are in the US. MMods is in Australia, some 14,000 miles away in the South Pacific. Best you contact Brian at Pro Twister Mods, or Russell at Race Factor industries in the US. I'm sure they will be able to help.

Did you misunderstand what you were reading? The question
was directly asked to MM. No one else. I think he is a grown
man that can answer any questions himself.

Geez - just trying to be helpful. I wonder what crawled up his arse ????

Last time I looked this was an open forum. If you want to talk to someone in particular and don't want help, advice or comments from others on the forum, send a PM.
Hope you get better and can stop taking the pills soon.

Temps - Don't worry about temps. Throw the temp gun away and tune for performance and smoke. To many things effect the temp any given engine will run at. Some guys run at 100 C, some at 115, some at 125. Depends on oil quantity and quality in the fuel, clutch set up etc. Anywhere between 95 C to 125 C is ok

Needles - will depend on what LSN you have in the carb (what generation your motor is).
Fairly safe starting point for most of the GO's is LSN 1.5 turns in from flush and HSN .5 turns in from flush. If you have a long LSN you won't need to go in any more on the HSN, just lean the LSN until you have a good tune (around 2.5 in from flush normally.
If you have the newer intermediate length LSN, then you will be able to go in further on the HSN (about 1.5) to get a good tune. LSN should be about the same.

Idle time - Hmmm no hard and fast rules there either. Again it depends on oil percentage in your fuel etc. I use a low % but high quality oil fuel, and can let my GO idle for a couple of minutes no problem - then gun it and it won't bog much at all. A higher percentage oil fuel will bog the motor down sooner and take off wont be as crisp after its sat for a while.
I wouldn't worry about it too much. Tune for a good clean top end, then tune the bottom so when you pinch the fuel line off (about an inch back from the fuel nipple) you get only a slight increase in revs (about 500 rpm) and the motor dies between 4 and 5 secs after you pinch off the line. This should be pretty close. It will idle as long as it wants to with the fuel etc you are using.

Hope this helps. Please no abusive replies - I'm feeling a little delicate after the last time I gave some advice on here

I'm about to order a .28 3 port and I have a question about my starter box. The one listed below is what I already have, I used it on my XXX-nt, will it have enough power to start the GO or will I need to buy a new box too?

I would give it a try, for sure you will have problems for break inn because the engine its tight for that box, but after brak inn, you are set ... (i think)

cya, and good luck,
