Good morning Mark, The lads here have a bunch of toys heading over to you soon, so you can breathe a little extra life into them
I think once a few more people here see what the MM Go's are capable of, you might be getting a few more orders from this side of the ditch in the future :) Hey, sorry about that rugby quip in the previous post, but I just couldn't resist :D |

You obviously haven't driven a broken in Go 5 Port !!!
If the Go motors are so inferior as you claim, why are heaps of racers fitting the Go internals into their Novarossi's  Sorry about the Tri Nations and the Bledisloe Cup too :ha: :) |
On the 5 port go where is everyone getting their temps from they very so much

Retro RC who posts on here regularly has a Go 7 port that has now done 11 gallons + and is still running sweet and finishing in the top 3 in A main events against other top brand motors that are twice the price of the Go's. I think he put new bearings and piston/sleeve in at around 8 gallons (not an expensive exercise with the price of Go parts).
The only thing I've ever had issues with was the gen1 carb it had a coarse thread on the lsn and the carb sleave was plastic which disintergrated when I over tightened the pinch bolt. I had a gen4 carb on it until resently when I upgraded to a gen5 carb only because I was to lazy to replace the orings in the old 1  Adrian Ps mark my 5pts on it's way:deathstar |

When trying different carbs on the GO like from OS or Nova or RB has anyone noticed that the engine acts about the same as the stock regarding the way it wants to be tuned?
I mean you can't tune a Go as a V-spec for example just because you used the OS carb. I'm i right on this one or is just my head going rounds!!! |
I put a 21 J carb off an OS 28xz on my .25.
And it tunes just like a normal engine (tune HSN 1st then do the LSN), not the Go tuning way. I had a lot of trouble with the Go carb, lean bogging and air leaks around the carb throat, had a spare OS carby lying around so I thought I would try it out. I'm very happy with the way it performs now. |
CAN someone out there can compare the os pipe 2050 to da go pipe 0801,i borrow & tried the os pipe from a friend i would say the bottom is good (i dont wanna say great cause i'm stil looking for more bottom-end punch lol) currently using is the ofna 053 for my 3R.................& m still lacking of bottom so i want to know about this pipe which is the go 2047 ,0801 pipe........

Yeah it tunes very similar to how the the OS did, it has a larger window where its in tune. The GO carb would be sensitive to small needle adjustments.
You can be "about right" and it will perform well. I want to get the hang of the GO carbs though, coz this wont be the last Go engine I own. |
I run the 086 on my 3r and have more than enough bottom end. Almost too much to be honest. You may want to look at your clutch/gearing setups before spending too much more money on new pipes.

I mean you can't tune a Go as a V-spec for example just because you used the OS carb. I'm i right on this one or is just my head going rounds!!! each individual carb will tune differently because of its own individual charachteristics. We know how to tune an OS or a Nova carb because they have been around for 30 years .. if Go carbs were round for 30 years and Nova or OS were new we would have trouble tuning them too .. Different carbs have different metering.. Where peopel are going wrong is they treat the engine like an OS or a Nova .. what you should be doing is tuning the individual engine as oposed to expecting it to be tuned like an OS or a Nova. forget the standard 2 turns in from flush ... and the LSN being 4 turns in ... start at Flush on the HSN and 1 turn in from flush on the LSN . Then run the engine for a couple of tanks under load .. see what happens .. the Go Carb is designed to be really easy to tune. the trick is usually you only have to go a variance of 1/4 turn rich or lean from flush to get it in the ball park. Flush being the easiest refrence point. Once we get our heads around this you will all see how easy hey are to tune. Massssive |

tune for performance only , forget temps and forget smoke. when we talk about racing if you watch the top guys in on road and off road you will notice hardly any smoke . Why is it so ? ( i love saying that ) many reasons but one reason we must consider is that some fuels smoke more than others . EG fuels that rely on glycol based oils ( 95 % of rc fuel on the market ) will smoke a lot, glycol based oils have a low flash point hence they burn off easy . when you burn oil it makes a lot of smoke. if you use a high performance fuel with good oil it will tend to smoke a lot less. So if you are a basher or beginner then yes look fo the smoke by all means , thats a good sign , but when you tune for racing and performance dont rely on a smoke trail all the time. Just tune for performance . that dosent mean choke it till it dies , Performance means an engine that runs reliably , consistantly and performs well. |
