Track Build Days
Posting here, but I also plan to push out emails later today.
With a promising forecast ahead of us, and the Parks Department very helpfully popping for a Bobcat rental, I would like to call two work parties for this coming week to build an offroad track.
Thursday, May 9
Noon
Bobcat on site.
and then...
Saturday, May 11
9am
Bobcat on site.
Bring any hand tools you have. I will be renting a ground pounder as well, and the park has a hand-push drum roller we can use.

Here you go.
I know it seems like we're constantly doing everything but build a track, but today we got after it. The ground floor is leveled and bladed. The lane layout is in place. The sweeper berm is down, raked, and compacted. We've schemed out features, though we'll certainly leave some of that fun stuff for the Saturday crew to jump in on. I did a bunch of Bobcat work on the west side to shape up where the pit area will eventually be.
The benches behind the stand are an Eagle Scout project and they are sweet. But, there was also a huge pile of gravel off to the side to bring the bench pads and the stand pad to level grade. That took a chunk of the day's energy, but now we have a nice compacted gravel walkway off the stand and toward the pit area. I can't say it's fully ADA-compliant, but with just a little help a wheelchair-bound racer could get by. I expect to continue working on that part, but we made some decent progress on that goal today.
Thanks to Ryan, Don, Drew, and Scott for the big day. Tracy stopped by and took measurements to finish off the stand. That will be his Saturday task.

Anyone coming from Everett want to give me a ride tommorow? I had to take the car to the shop today and Jen has to work in Oak Harbor tomorrow instead of Seattle so my ride share with her is a no-go now...

And Then There Was a Track!
A big effort today earned us a sweet new community track in a park! It's open, it works, so come out to play. There is more work to do to beautify the setting, but the track itself is built and radio control cars go around it and hit jumps and do all the fun things we like to do Thanks to the work crew today who put in several hours of hard work in the sun.
The video below hardly does it justice. It's Slash with a 17.5, and a half-charged battery. But, you get the idea. It's not a super-moto track, but it has some deceptively challenging sections. For my money, a 1/10th truck with a 10.5 would be the ticket. That said, we had a bit of everything out there today, and it all worked: Slash, SC10, 4wd SC10, B44, B4, T4...the table top in particular is killer for the higher powered cars, and the right side S's have a fun flow with subtle elevation.
There is more to come, but for now, go have some fun!
