The 3-port engines come mainly with standard glow plugs whereas the majority of 5-port engines come with a turbo glow plug for more power.

In most places though 5-ports are illegal for racing unless the club runs the new outlaw class.
Ummm, I think edwintam knows the physical difference between the two.

I think likely he wants to know the power difference between the two... STS 3 port handmod vs STS 5 port non-handmod.

When I originally purchased the RS3 handmod I thought it was going to be a standard glow plug. To my surprise it was a turbo button and requires a turbo glow plus (not supplied).

So when you order the rs .12 modified for 149.99 from teamcrc.com. You will be getting the Turbo motor. You can make it a standard by purchasing the standard button separately.

I'm using a turbo 6 plug for the RS3 now until I can get a #5.

One thing, who in the world makes the RS .12 motor?

Still haven't broken in the engine due to some problems I was having earlier, but thanks to a kind individual my problems were solved.

Car is ready to go, just waiting for the bad weather to pass then ass signs point to race!

I'm alittle confused here, maybe someone can help me out. I know CRC has on their website the STS MT.12, the STS.12, and the STS RS.12 (which is a turbo plug), but I have yet to see the RS3 .12 which is shown on their homepage(not on their online store). I contacted CRC last week, and they informed me that the RS3 .12 (not to be confused with the RS.12) will not be available until sometime later this week, and that it would have a normal plug. So where is everyone getting their RS3 engines from?

screw balls. I thought I had purchased the RS3. Yah man that is a total mislead.

I bought the RS .12 Modified motor, which I assumed to be the RS3. Since it is a .12 3 port modified motor. I guess I was wrong. I will have to clarify that one too.

I have a sts mt12 in my nrs4 2. Compared to my rb it is more powerful. The STSmt12 runs great and doesnt miss a lick. It reacts to needle settings very well and was very easy to break in. This is my 1st rear exaust engine and 1st engine with a slide carb. For $125, it was a great buy. Glad to see all of u enjoy your sts engines. Ill be putting 20/37gearing on my nrs4, so it will sure fly when it hits second. I'm sure the engine will be able to handle it.

The difference is, one engine is the standard type (MT12), one is the 3 port turbo engine that is ROAR legal(with a std. plug), the 5 port is a true turbo engine, and even if you put a standard plug in, is still not ROAR legal.

My 3P has modded crank, porting work, and has a grey head and black case. On it's box it says ".12 3P RS SG Crank TURBO ", and has a red dot on it

Default Are any of you experiencing a leak?

I just broke in the new RS .12 modified motor I bought. I was wondering if any of you had any leaking problems. I noticed that there's a lot of fuel that's leaking out from what looks to be the carb. Just wanted to see if this was a common thing or is it just me?

So far it idles really good. Looks to be a strong @$$ mofo. Once the rain lets up I'm going to start leaning it out.
