Yes. Use a leather hole punch for the tire and a drill or body reamer for the wheel.

Finally today I got a 3.0 2 speed (car was 2.0 modded to 3.0 except the 2 speed.
In the manual it looks like the 2 speed shoes are reversed? As in the housing the holes are pointing the wrong way to get wrench in to adjust the two speed?

The old two speed the shoes run the opposite direction.
The set screw in from the inside out went fine. As for the main screws with springs, how far in is 'all the way'?
Do you compress the spring till it can't compress any more? I found it hard to feel what all the way was while screwing and was scared of stripping it, so stopped. Thought I'd ask on here first!

That looks fine. For the 2speed functionality the direction of the shoes does not matter.

For the setting screw in till the spring is compressed then out the amount stated in the manual. In any case try to get both screws the same. You can pull the shoes apart by hand and see if the the gap is the same on both sides.

So I could flip the shoes to the other side no probs so that the holes in the housing line up with the clutch screws for ease of changing the 2 speed engagement point?

The manual is correct in the orientation of the shoes but it doesn't really matter as the gearbox will work either way around. When the gear is on you can't really adjust the gearbox from the outside accurately anyway. It's better to remove it to make the adjustment. It doesn't take long to do.

When you screw the grub screws in from the inside make sure you don't screw them all the way out and leave at least 0.5 - 1mm of the bore bare ie with no thread cut. This is to stop the grub screws backing out in use.

The adjustment screws should be turned in all the way until you can feel the spring fully compressed and then back it out initially 3.5 - 4 turns. I know the manual states 3 turns but in my experience of this gearbox in the GT car the standard setting is a bit late, especially if you are also breaking in a new engine. You won't strip it and you will feel the spring full compress. Don't over tighten and squash/deform the spring.

The stock 3.0 setup is pretty good in low traction. Biggest thing will be tire choice!

What brake plate mount screws / tubes do you use for srx8 pro brakes? Standard doesn't fit well. Screws in way too far or is too loose if not screwed all the way in.

I mean the standard 3.0 kit screws/tubes the tubes are too short. Does 3.1 come with longer tubes? Or do you use something else?

When I fitted the SRX8 brakes on my 3.0 car I just fitted the discs and carried on using the pads from the GT Pro brake kit which is now discontinued because the srx8 pads were too thick and didn’t fit properly.

On the 3.1 kit there are revised fittings. So to fit both the srx8 discs and pads You need the GT 3.1 plate mounting kit.

It’s brake plate mount set GT 3.1 part number 600988. http://www.serpent.com/product/600988
