Okay so far I have been running the RTR 2 with updated radio and Yok foams, but now I want to upgrade this one and purchase a second. This car isn't as easy to work on as my NTC3 but it is way more fun.

My question is what upgrades can I purchase to make both of the GT-4Ws into GT-4Rs? I don't think I need to full option the car seeing that it runs great already.

What's the difference in the W and R?
I'm VERY happy with my RTR GT-4. It moves out quickly and is tough!

The W was originally the first model on the GT4 "series" ... the R came oriented over foam racing rear 32mm yokomo foam tires and front one way unit, updated parts, etc. ... while the GT4"W" just came with front and rear diffs and basic equipment ...

I just did some digging and found what I would need. The R came with front oneway, solid rear, 190mm rear dogbones and turnbuckles, lower front shock tower, and GTP or Lola type body on foam tires. I got some orders to make and I just might sell my NTC3

Its a shame what happened to the Yokomo GT4. Not much parts support, but I have to say, its an awesome car, especially since its "older" compared to the MTX3, RRR, and 710.

I raced with the Yokomo on Friday, and I have to say, its an awesome car. Handling was great. I even beat a few people out there with it, and was leading the pack for a while, before I decided to bring it back in. Heck, I might even trade one of my MTX3's for it lol.

I had a huge crash with mine 2 weeks ago. End over end cartwheels etc. I was gritting my teeth the whole time it was flying thru the air (like in slow motion). When it finally came to I gave it some gas and nothing was broken. Looked it over and got back in the race. One more reason why I really like it.
Then I was running a friends electric losi car with lots of graphite parts and I BARELY tapped the pvc wall and broke an a-arm. I couldn't believe how much abuse mine took compare to his light tap.

My Yokomo and Savage are my favorite r/c's!!

Anyone know much about the Yokomo GT4 S Type? Will the regular GT4 parts fit this car? I can't seem to find any reviews or details about the GT4 S Type.

If Im not mistaken the GT4 S came before the GT4WL. It he S was the first one with the 2 shoe 2 speed tranny instead of the finger type, and i believe it also came with a centax. It also had aluminum shocks.

My brother in law has the S Type GT4, which is why I was asking. I might trade my MTX3 for it, since I already have another MTX3 prospec. The GT4 that he has, from what I remember, has aluminum shock towers and a front one way unit. If it does indeed have a centax clutch, that's just icing on the cake for me The car handled very well and I was very competitive with it when I last raced, which is why I was contemplating, trading one of my mtx3's for it. Plus, its nice having a car no one else has at the track. Everyone I see at the track is running MTX3's, 710's, RRR's, etc.
