I'll get back with you on it, we've got to clean up the pieces and remake a few, final design issues. The pinions, on the other hand, should prove handy. We wanted pinion stock, first, to help Tom with his idea, second, to provide more pinion options for the current build. We're currently running 21p 40s, which was fantastic at Dayton, but it's still a little lacking for Toledo. We'll be moving the spur to a 38, but would really like a 22p which no one seems to make.

We didn't make many gear changes years ago because most tracks were the same, running Heart of America format, and all roughly about the same size (except Indy, which was huge, and Toledo, which was a bit small.) I think we can get by on one spur but would like more options for the pinion, since the pinion is easier to change on our build (have more than one bell ready to go, very short process.)

In 2002, Juan Pablo Montoya's BMW V10 F1 motor revved up to a record 19,050 rpms. A piston would have gone up and down in its bore 635 times to produce 158 individual combustion per second. can you dig it? I'm thinking it was really a 3-port, Who needs more?

I get the stuff from Matt's link, about 50 bucks for a 2 x 2 sheet, with which I can make at least five chassis. I'm using the same stuff for my servo trays as well, which is probably overkill, but results in superior protection for your servos and such. Light stuff, very easy to work with, and cheap enough that if you screw a piece up, no big deal.

I'm using Revo spur gears mounted to the hub Tom remade (superior to the one I made.) About three bucks a pop and they seem to hold up well. Because of the gearing in the diff, none of the Kyosho or Edam spurs we have worked. There are enough various spurs available to get the job done and we've tried to stick with something "off the shelf."

One consideration, when we started thinking of building for sale, was cost/availability. With most kits, you're locked in to whatever the manufacturer supplies, which means being stuck with their supply chain and their price markup. Going this route, other than the pieces we make ourselves, a buyer of our kit can shop around and get the same parts from a multitude of sources for a decent price (I get Revo gears from the local hobby shop.) Frankly, most of our drivetrain is offroad, and there's just more parts available for offroad than their are for onroad.
