Once you drilled the extra 2.5 mm hole (the other hole is the existing one), you could always take out the two M3x4 set screws if you do not like it.

Goldfinger mentioned somewhere that the NSR pistons have one groove instead of the normal two on the NS. This itself makes for the engine able to rev higher due to lower friction. At least this is on paper.

But the most apparent advantage of the NSR piston is the microcasted piston. Due to higher silicon content, they can take more heat before crapping out. More heat (to a certain limit) means more power.

So if I were you, I'll get the NSR.

Why longer rear shocks? God knows... I guess it has always been the tradition that Serpent rear shocks are longer than the front. All Serpent shocks are compatible with each other. The 1/8th scale Serpent cars use the same springs (except for Veteq) and shocks as the 1/10 scale TCs.

As for the JR receiver, I hope somebody can help you there. I remember someone mentioned it can fit while the other said that you couldn't. I guess depending on the type of receiver that you have.

This is pretty normal if you've idled more than 30 seconds or more.

But when I lift off the engine revs remain high for a couple of seconds - a sign of being to lean, I though? Also when I come back into the pits after a hard run, the engine temp doesn't drop much below 88C at idle, but if I do the pinch method, then the engine slowly increases in speed and eventually dies after about 5-6 seconds - but this is a sign of being too rich
What I'll do when the engine revs high coming in for a couple of seconds, I'll lower the engine idle. The engine may want to die off. That's when I'll lean the low end to get the engine to idle properly. Give it a few revs. The idle should be purring and constant. Do a pinch test again and see.

Assuming that you have not tuned the HSN, you will need to richen the LSN needle slightly when you lean the HSN because the HSN controls the main fuel delivery to LSN as well.

Somehow, that question of mine was like a trap. Sorry to make it sound like that but I was quite sure that you held the shock shaft the way you did... With the sharp wire cutter portion on the end of the needle thread.

Do away with that method. I've tried that and it simple makes a notch at the end of the thread and gives reason for the shaft to be weak at that spot.

Like what modellor (oophs Palmaris Europe ) does, I use a paper towel and grip the shock shaft with normal pliers. Works for me. And you will not break shock shafts.

Bit correction bro.
It was the MAX P series that have same piston with the NSR.
The 1 pit/groove piston is belongs to MAX "S" series.
Dunno about the newer NSR, I believe someone said that it was ported from novarossi already.

Cool. Thanks bro. I thought the S version of the Max has the NSR piston = 1 groove on the top of the piston and 1 groove at the bottom part of the piston. The P version of the Max has the older NS piston which has 2 grooves on the top of the piston only. I may be wrong...

Yes. IDM style.

Yup. Or the RRL12...

Do you know if the RRL12 would also undergo running changes like their NSR brothers with regards to the IDM sleeve porting?

If Novarossi makes casted piston and additional porting for RR, they will challenging the JP, Mega, RB market.
With their current decision to porting the newer NSR, they shut the MAX door already.
So, when they sharpen their both side of samurai, it could stab them back instantly.
Classic marketing startegy lah...
Funny yah... the European leading company learning from Japanese Car company... (you know.Corolla/Corona, Civic/Accord)

The pinch test does confirm what you say, but the only thing which I was concerned about again, is that the gap on the throttle barrel in the carb is again less than 1mm - are you guys certain that your gaps are 1mm? I measured mine and its about 0.7mm. Leaning the LSN and the adjusting the idle screw will lower this again.

Cheers, Mark-

Dont worry to much.
There is no competition for the "longest and/or best idle"
