Can you tell us how thick the graphite rear shock tower is on the 710?
Since the rear shock tower double as the rear body post mount I would like to know.

Also do you think the 705 rear carbon body mount will work on the 710?

The shock towers are 2.5mm thick.
The 705 carbon body mount will not fit.

The shock towers are 2.5mm thick.
Thanks:)

Is the front upper bumper plate graphite or composite plastic??

lol...yes, please post more picture on the 710 gallery so we can get a better look at this masterpiece!!!

But to be honest, we only test other cars with some knowing setup. We don’t work on other cars. To get a car to his limit you must learn to setup, and that takes much time. We tested many cars to get much information. Ok, the other cars had not the perfect setup, but it gives an injection how the car feels.
Saying it short : We are not scared of the others.

Fair enough...

Have any US drivers(including Flyin' Ralph Burch) driven this car..and were they involved in testing if they have?..

YBSLOW

I will begin building my 950R on Tuesday as long as the big brown truck shows up.
:sneaky:

One serious bullet to go between the engine mounts under way, no more screwin around in 04.

U turn over a nevada rock and tenessee rolled out? LOL

Trully this statement is what I looking for..
Because, I totally dissagre with old 16T or 17T pulley and running in both with kevlar belted.

How do you account for the 1/8th scale then that uses the 16T pulley in the middle bearing block up front with kevlar belts?

Motorman 11-16-2003 06:36 PM

its accounted for in the wallet as the 16 has always been a belt eater no matter which 1/8th scale car it was ever on. LOL

Starter Box

Someone may have asked this already, however I am curious if a different adapter is needed for the Powerstart Starter Box ???

Or is a different starting method required ???

I do not run 1/8 scale, far as I know in my 705 with 103% FR Overdrive, this 16T pulley giving the FR belt very hard time so its became loose easily and you know what happened next....
Then, there is a 5mm option, (better lifetime) but could not turn very smooth since its rubbing the pulleys inside wall.

 Anyway, I have never need to change my 16T plastic pulley. Still using the same one after nearly 1 year ! :D The front belts tear but that is because small sharp pebbles get stuck in the middle bearing block or in the pulley itself and chews the belt.:flaming:

I guess if for me the 16T was already good, the larger 19T pulley can only be better !

I asked but I think nobody replied. I should think that they would provide the mounts for the Powerstart in the kit like they did for the 705.

At the product write up of the 710, it is mentioned below int he last lines...

To enable you to start your Serpent 710 with the greatest of ease Serpent provide the necessary alignment brackets for your Powerstart™ starter box.

Ummm, if they are indeed different mounts from the 705, then it would be difficult for those who run 705 and 710... Unless it is accounted for in the pocket to use 2 starter boxes !

I actually have never had the front belt loose. I run overdrive too but not much.

All of the times, the front belts break because of the pebbles ! :flaming:

Yes. If not installed properly, the 5 mm belt will last no longer than the stock 4 mm belt ! The flanges of all the pulleys need to be installed correctly. The smooth curve surface should be facing the pulley teeth. Else, the belts get eaten by the sharp flanges.

Motorman 11-16-2003 08:14 PM

its always best to use the biggest pulleys that can be accomodated. big pulleys=less belt wrap drag. some of the 21's I have built for some customers have enough power that snapping rear belts has even been a problem on NT's and MRX's alike so the front really becomes an issue if you run alot of OD. Only thing that seems to really work on the front is an alloy 16 tooth pulley as it stops belt skip when the car shifts on a really sticky track. YBSLOW and Tracy Grieger can vouch for snapped rear belts and they are new ones. The kevlars were the worst, fiberglass type belts streach some and tend not to shock snap we found but their worse for skip. So its a toss up. Tension becomes critical.

My old MTX2 snapped 4 side belts in the same place on Toledo's track the same day one after another when it shifted. I finally gave up and parked it.

Scotty hows it going. May join the snake camp again in the spring. It looks real good so far, I'll have to see what feedback you guys give me over the winter.
