Re: Re: Overdrive Question...
Originally posted by Rene C. Why you want to drive that much overdrive? A 4mm smaller tyre means less driving time. Yup, smaller tires mean less run time but not with front tires as I have never seen any racer finish the front tires before finishing the rear. Originally posted by Rene C. When you have a traction-roll problem, and you had to use smaller rear tyres like 60 the front tyres must be 56. So the driving time is nearly zero. The fact that front tires don't eat so much on the track, 56 mm should last longer than the rear tires. Originally posted by Rene C. With the 710 the rear tyre wear is better then with the 705. Every time a car slides, the tyre wear’s. The 710 is more in balance, so the rear don’t slides that much. It’s still more than the front tyres. The reason why I like to run a 4.5 mm split on the 705 (with 18T/22T/47T) is because because giving you more steering, I find that at the end of the day after a 30 minute run, the front and rear tires still maintains about 3 mm split which does not give you a lot of overdrive that makes car handling different from when you start the car till when you finish the race. For your info, the new Kyohso V1RR EVO uses a 4 mm split built into their drivetrain. |
Originally posted by Rene C. With fuel ? I only know (like the rules sad) without fuel. So our test car is 1675gramms. But it’s not exactly. With different (smaller or bigger) Tyres, or different hardness, or with different radio, body and even colours the weight can be different. SN |
Wheelbase Question...
Earlier on, there were rumours mentioned that the 710 is able to adjust the wheelbase but I found that this is not mentioned on mytsn.
I assume since the car is equipped with ecentres in the front and rear to adjust belt tension, changing the belt tensions you change the wheelbase too? No? |
Centax III Question...
Perhaps this was already answered but what's the difference between Centax II and Centax III parts besides the pinions?

With this split and OD like "D" mentioned, this is the best handling for 705 I've ever run. My last week 45min race , start with 60(FR)/ 64(RR) ended up at 57/57.5 at front and 60/61 at rear. |

Still we can try using the optional 23T pulley from the 705 and see how it works on the 710...:sneaky::D |
I don't know if any of the Holland team drivers or R&D have seen Ralph Burch's 705 for the US Nats. The upper rear arms were a little different and was mounted inner on the rear bearing block and towards the middle centreline. Has that got anything to do with being inspired by the 710 design? What difference would that make on the 705? Longer rear arms, better chamber change etc? I also saw that he shortened the wheelbase in the front tires.
Sorry for all this barrage of questions but I just needed to get it off my head !! |
