D,

Want to update the FAQ tonight - does the last set of clutch mod pictures superceed the ones which are currently in the FAQ?`

What's the general opinion about which shock oil to use? Everyone using serpent?

Cheers, Mark.

Copied and pasted...

Note that you do not have to take off the clutch bell to be able to access the Centax pre-adjusting nut. You can adjust it externally by inserting a 1.5 mm allen into one of the 2 holes on the clutch bell and catching one of the 2 grooves on the pre-adjusting nut.

Once that is done and the pre-adjusting nut held firmly externally by the 1.5 mm allen, turn the flywheel CLOCKWISE to loosen the pre-adjusting nut to get earlier engagement and ANTICLOCKWISE on the flywheel to tighten the pre-adjusting nut to get a later clutch engagement. You want to turn the flywheel CLOCKWISE.

One more thing, on step 8.6 is says to shim until you get your 0.7mm number. Then on step 8.7 it says to shim behind the bearings to get minumal play??? So after I get my 0.7mm from adding a shim in front of the thrust bearing. I then add shims behind the clutchbell bearings till I get minumal play? If this is correct, how much is minumal play? 0.1mm total end play? Thanks.

I think you can. It is supposedly to be better for clutch engagement and disengagement.

The standard should be good on the 710. You may want to get 35wt as well.

I used to find that the Serpent's 30wt shock oil a little too thick in the beginning. Used to use Trinity shock oil of about 40wt and 50wt (which is about lower than Serpent 30wt) but since the 710, I've been using Serpent shock oil back again. Since they came out with 5 hole shock option, I've been using the 30wt oil and with 5 holes open instead.

Thanks alot "D" for letting me know about the clutch tool.:D I'm going to try the clutch with the stock setup and if I'm not happy with that then I'm going to try your mod. What exactly do you mean by "more punch" with the clutch mod? IS it a big difference from stock? Thanks, I really appreciate you sorting out my lack of understanding.

Yes. Approx thereabouts.

Thanks "D"! So right now my number is at 0.73mm Is it better to be at 0.73mm or 0.63mm? Just want to know if it is better to be a little bigger with the number when shimming or a little tighter?

Perhaps just a suggestion is to visit mytsn more often. You have product updates and news there on the 710 which would be useful.

Some people have experienced big difference is the pick up and acceleration.

You can adjust that coupler without taking the clutchbell off, just stick a 2mm hex in one of the 3 little holes through the bell into one of the slots in the coupler. Than rotate the flywheel CW or ACW until you get it right

If you want to get more punch out of the clutch, do the flyweight mod. You may want to use 0.4 mm or 0.5 mm as the clutchbell to clutch shoe spacing.

I think it is 0.7mm my caliper is not that great, I will get a digital tomorrow, but it is less than 1mm and on the pre tension spring I have 1mm. Should I loosen it? If so how much more or less

Larger spacing gives harder and more agressive punch. Smaller spacing will give a more smooth clutch engagement. Depending on tracks and amount of traction.
