I have the Knack Racing side brace on my MTX5 and It has not stripped any gear what so ever.... Also it made the car feel really good on the track. Oh! I have the first version of the MTX5 too! No new gears and none of that new stuff on the new car. If I were you I would invest in one of those brace's

One thing I noticed on the clutch is that the car uses a aluminum clutch nut. We all know when aluminum gets hot it expands. After that the clutch nut will back off and there goes that perfect clutch set-up you had. So I put the old steel one on and my clutch never changed on me during the race!!!! A little something for you guys to try..... And the ultra hard spring is the ticket.

Good point Tony, the clutch spring nut will back off, and blue loctite will eat away at it. What BLUE shoe are u talking about?

We must not underestimate the clutch in the whole of our MTX5.
In fact, it is so versatile and so little criticism that everything changes depending on the engine used and the track (eg xray is not as critical).
soft hard with engines that do not push up or fat will slip the bell wearing out and warming up the transmission.
l 'single index of a clutch well done is the' wear and tear of the strain. Always check after each session, the 'wear by measuring the distance bell-strain under 2 bearings, if the distance increases the friction is not good.
if the clutch and 'well done 99% does not dissolve the crown.

Just picked up a mtx-5 and pretty stocked on the purchase. Does anyone have a good set-up for GLARCR in Los Angeles they would not mind sharing? Also any upgrade parts that the car needs that would be considered an absolute have to? Thanks!

Front:
37F cut at 59MM
298 MM track width
-1 degree on outside camber and -.5 on the inside (wearing the tires flat)
Lt blue spring, one hole piston, 500 weight oil, middle shock tower hole
2.3 mm roll bar
150K oil with composite gears
upper arms in the top roll center position
+1 toe out on each side
ackerman in the middle position
one small clip in front for caster
5 MM ride height.
Rear:
40's cut at 61MM
299 track width
-2.5 camber on outside and 2 on inside ( wearing them with a little coning)
Lt blue spring, two hole piston, 500 weight oil, third hole from bottom.
2.4 mm roll bar
80 K weight oil with steel gears
6 MM ride height.
3 mm spacer on upper arm link and on inside lower hole
-1 toe in on each side
P37 body
As for upgrades, I only have 3. Steel diffs. a brace, and a 1-pc. eng. mount.

Which brace are you referring to? I am assuming you mean a side brace and not the Mugen front and rear body braces correct? I am trying to find a side brace but am coming up with no luck. Any ideas?

Yes, the side brace that eliminates the chances of the spur gears from stripping. You can make one from a turnbuckle with ball joints at each end. I've seen some made with carbon fiber, another one out of aluminum. Look thru the old postings in this thread, I've seen a lot of people posting pics.
