Personally, the RR conversion is worth it. For 60-80$ US you make the steering a good deal more confident and consistent with the high-speed steering improved and more precise. Rear camber-gain adjustment is a great adjustable point that subtly changes the rear grip. A bit more work concerning the upper deck now connected to the front upper suspension making some small tasks more of a bitch, but overall better.

Default Winternats

Hello Guys,

Just Chiming in from down here in PR.... Planning on visiting Florida for the WinterNats... I'll be heading down w/ my friend Geloman (also running FW05RR) and was wondering who would be down there and if anyone has any set-up tips for the track.

Looking forward to seeing some of the Fw05 crew down there.

Site has gone quiet hasn't it.
I wont be there as I do not currently have the funds to travel, it would possibly cost me around $5000 to get me and my stuff to the event, and that is only if I could get the time off from work.

I have just installed the Spektrum set up in to my car, and I don't quiet know how to explain this but I am sure the throttle and steering action feels smoother, also not a single glitch from the glowstart or a screw driver (used to be real cronick (badder than bad))

Yeah this thread seams to have gone quiet, I wish the that meant the parts wouldn't go out of stock so fast!

I have the spektrum mounted as well, really saves alot of hassle w/ the frequencies also.

I got lucky enough to have the boss give me the week off, and had some spare doe for the trip... but it's not cheap for me either. I'll get some video for ya.
Thanks though Nimo.

Just picked up a used FW05R(rubber tyre version).
Planning to get the FW05RR conversion kit for it.
I've read from the Kyosho site that the conversion kit is for the FW05R(foam tyre version)
Looking at the online manuals, the foam and rubber tyre version have a different chasis Foam version chasis is same as the RR.
So, the million dollar question.... Will this conversion kit work with my rubber tyre version? Or will I have to pick up a RR chasis too?

Please advise so that I can order the right stuff or put my pennies aside for something else.

Conversion kit will fit all FW05 range, including the FW05T.
The Foam version uses the Shimo Chassis, but I used the blue FW05S chassis as it gave more chassis flex, I have just fitted the 3racing chassis.

If you cannot get the Conversion kit, then at least get the RRR front hubs
They will give you so much more power on steering which is more noticable if you are running Rubber tyres.
The RRR rear hubs do not work so well with Rubber tyres but are needed if you run Foam.
It is also possible to fit the FW05RR front end and still use the R top deck (which I have now done), this gives the much needed chassis flex for running on slippery and wet tracks.

OK here's the strange bit... It's a FW05R rubber as stated in the instruction that came with the car. Plastic upper deck and all. But the car came with foam tyres. I assume the former owner fitted on the foam tyres without doing anything else.

An email to a LHS told me that they could order the conversion kit for me.
With all the aftermarket brands, it's pretty confusing what's hot and what's not. So I will stick with the Kyosho kit. Hope the LHS doesn't pull a "sold out" stunt on me.

4 stroke conversion kits. I'm gonna get one for sure. Check out the link, you will have to translate www.kyosho.co.jp/web/products/car_bike/ pureten_vone/common/4cycle/4cycle-j.html - 19k
