It will also tighten up the drivetrain too. I keep thinking that I could take my dremel and remove a bit of the flange so the belt won't rub, but keep forgetting since there havent' been any problems.
I second that. My belt rubbed against my header for 18 months now, I am still using the original side belt. It will not hurt it too much, but could cause a little drivetrain drag.

I have snapped about 3 or so of them, and bent a few. If you hit a grippy surface with your tire when running a one-way or solid front you are very likely to hyper flex the front steering knuckle. When this happens the knuckle pops off the pivot balls completely, cracks or you bend or break a cvd. It sucks but there is not much you can do about it. I know the MTX3 front knuckles pop off in similar situations.

I've noticed after running my R40 in a 5 minute race it is completly covered in tire dust. At first I thought this was good because it meant I was getting good traction. But now I'm thinking the dust is coming from the tires not gripping that well and thus sliding around so much it covers my car in dust. Anyone have any comment...
I run 26mm 42 shore fronts, 30mm 37 shore rears, suspension set-up is by the manual.

Yeah I guess its weird I just had to comment that I too had a feeling that in rare cases it might be different. I dunno its weird because I know that its only by lean situations or the detonation as well which is normally caused from being too lean or too high compression.

Make sure your wheel wells arent cutting the tires this can shave off some tire, just trim them up a bit if they are and make sure to round all edges. If you want you could try driving the car at half your race pace and see if its picking up lots of dust.

It could be a number of things for the dust besides loosing traction.

It still looks pretty close. I guess this is a warning as there really is nothing else to do. If you get a d3r youll need to get the cf brace or modify your stock one to pull the belt away more from the exhaust.

Im just having a heck of a time finding a motor that fits good.

Another thing with this motor is also the carb runs very close to the brake disc. But the good thing the carb can pretty much fully rotate without hitting the idle screw.
I have the same problem with my RD engine (made by STS). I was told that the belt can rub against the manifold without any problems. I sanded as much as I could from the manifold and just let it rub. You don't want to run the belt too tight.

I made my own! Seems like my bumper is the center of attention at the track though. 1/2 the guys love it while the other 1/2 make fun of it. I have yet to break anything after 3 races so they can make fun all they want!

Thats one clean car. Also I noticed the rear of your chassis is more scraped up like haras car as well. Nice stuff.

Also I wonder if we could get like a super nitro bumper or something on the R40.

That was after I took it apart for a cleaning (cause it was only 1 race day old).

The scratches are thanks to my bumpy track. :-)

Holy RC Death Zone! Those cinder blocks must be horrible on the cars. They should use something that gives a little.

The blocks aren't bad, they do give a little. Also, the track is made out of PVC pipes so those give too.

Yeah I run on basically the same setup. Parkinglot with pvc pipe of some sort...except they have stuff that curves really nice as well. So im not fully sure what it is. I can ask next time I go though.

But they use much less harsher stuff. In fact really nothing at all and the track doesnt seem to get out of shape at all.

Very nice car... and nice track

Which chassis is that? I thought the HPI super chassis came in silver only.
