I think that it would be a good idea to keep the regulator outside of the receiver case - the manufacturers of the regulators recommend this (so the regulator is better able to cool).

Thanks for the info. I hadn't thought of the regulator needing to remain cool.

Found that out the hard way as I'm on my second Novak regulator now. :o

However, I don't plan on running in the rain, so I strategically placed vent holes in the receiver case where air could flow through and over the regulator with minimal tire/gunk. ;) Been working like a charm ever since.

can someone explain the difference in handling characteristics between 25T(2mm split) and 26T(no split..)what conditions would favor using one over the other..thanks

The no-split situation would come in handy for when you need to use rubber tyres.

Not useful in a lot of countries but useful in Europe where they race come rain or shine!

to me, the 25t basically just gives the car more on power steering and makes longer mains a bit easier when the rear tires wear faster than the fronts. kind of like running less droop in the front too.

This is fantastic, I really had the impression that Xray was not Team Magic/KFactory but it's entertaining to know that they firmly believe in bling/aftermarket despite Mario's recent article.

What makes these really tough is that they look so similar to the plastic shocks that it will make it difficult to tell exactly what the team drivers are running now (and perhaps before?)

It's not just bling but rather adding another step in Xray's never ending tuning options. The option of using two o-rings resulting in less shock seepage is nice for the longer runtimes in nitro. I check all of my shocks after a main and have found that my rear shocks sometimes accumulate air after being rebuilt before a raceday.

The bling article was referring to "colorful aluminum hop-up parts", I don't see these shock bodies as "bling" option. Yes, you will be able to tell who runs aluminum shock bodies, they also have aluminum bottom caps that are not anodized (as oppose to the all-composite stock bodies), look at the pics. Some drivers used them at euros and marked them in their setup sheets... I'll stick with my composite shocks, never had issues with them, they're light and smooth.
