Yes, that's the one you'll want to use. The lower mounting holes have a support brace in between them, all you have to do is cut that off and then bend the ends in slightly and it will line up with the mounting holes on the rear tower. Takes about 5 minutes with a dremel and a heat gun/hair dryer.

What all is needed to convert this nitro into the Eco?

Battery tray, center diff, radio box?

Is the chassis a must?

the nitro chassis and the eco version are really 2 different chassis.
the center diff is indeed are the exact same place but you have to drill a bunch of holes to fit the parts like the lipo tray + the eco radio+servo tray. I did it with a M2C nitro chassis...

It's definitely better to just grab an Eco chasis from dollarhobbyz.com

+1 but get the mgt7 chassis it's the same thing but 12 bucks cheaper

I know this is like Blasphemy but do you guys think the Bitty Design Force Rc8 B3 will fit the 7r they look exactly a like?
