My OS Speed took a little over a gallon and a half to fully break in, of which I've never changed the clutch shoes or bearings. In fact, I ran almost 2 gallons before removing the motor to service the clutch/end bell. End bell still spun freely before disassembling. Upon removal one of the inner bearing shields had fallen off, but bearings were still very free. I had some mushrooming on the shoes that I filed off, but elected to continue running them, replacing the clutch bearings.

Just getting back into nitro and not familiar with the performance fall off, due to clutch wear, I'm not sure I felt anything significant over the course of these 2- gallons. Surprisingly have been turning as fast (and at times faster) lap times with the NB-48 over my EB-48.2, standing on the hot pit.

So should I feel slippage at some point? Delayed engagement?

How many gallons do you get out of the stock shoes?

Almost a gallon. So far my Werks clutch is going on 2 gallons and still have plenty of life left.

Perfect. Thanks. Looks like an updated version of what I saw of Drake a few years ago from him.

Seems the Losi 4 shoe clutch is interchangeable with the Tekno, parts and all correct? So the 23.4mm measurement that Drake mentions should apply to the aluminum Tekno shoes directly, also correct?

I think that is a safe number to go off of.

I'm using the kingsheadz http://www.amain.com/king-headz-team...-shoes-4/p9022 they last longer than tekno’s. With the stock ones you have to constantly smooth out the burrs. ¿How often? Religiously after every main.

i suppose stock tekno shoes are 6061 alu grade, not 7075. I have brand new set of Protek 7075 shoes, and material looks differ from stock one.

I still love my Dynamite Max life shoes. I did a whole season on one set of shoes. Still have plenty of life left on them too.

They look quite a bit different than standard 7075 shoes being blackened and all...

They are made of a ceramic and metallic blend material.
