Had a great time racing tonight down at Revelation. Qualified 3rd because of some silly mistakes (leading to an epic marshal fail in the 2nd qualifier that cost 9+ seconds and the TQ). Didnt make to many bad mistakes in the main but had a total brain fart when I came in for fuel and didnt know where my pit was (guy stepped up last minute to help but also had to marshal so I thought he was out on the track but he wasnt, whoops
). It was a great battle for 1st-4th the entire main with all of us running together the entire time. On the last lap, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th (me) were all running nose to tail (literally) and I was able to sneak through to be the first loser. 1st place buggy had 5 seconds on me by the end. Setup and tires are working well. I'll rebuild the diffs, shocks, and clutch tomorrow and should be set for a good showing at JBRL this weekend; cant wait!
Oh, had some issue with the tank just before the first qualifier. If I grabbed the car by the tail (nose down), the idle would drop and the buggy would die. Checked the lines and they were all good so I swapped the tank and the problem went away. No idea what the heck the problem was with it but I was glad to get it fixed just in time for my qualifier (hadnt done that all day). I'll investigate more tomorrow.

Yea, I've had that happen twice (ends up pointed toward the center drive shaft) but it wasnt the case this time. This problem was present with a full tank of fuel but I dont know if it would have happened with less fuel or not. I didnt want to risk it and find out so I went ahead and replaced it.

Hmmm... fuel tank of fuel and the engine would die when you lift it up from the wing? Only other thing I can think of is the pressure line being squeezed from your new body that I was mentioning to you yesterday. I ended up getting thicker fuel tubing so that the lines wouldnt get pinched between the body and the top edges of the tank.
Edit: I posted a picture a while back that showed my routing. My pressure line (from tank to pipe) wraps around the center drive shaft side of the tank in the lower set of retainer holes. Last night I moved the front, outer retainer to the location a bit further back to ease pressure on that part of the body when I replaced the tank. Oh, also installed the DE tank pull and really like that, thanks for the suggestion.

Happened with the body on or off. First thing I did was take the body off, check the lines, and try to replicate the problem. I run the Dubro nitro line that is quite thick but like I had stated in a previous post, my fuel lines dont get squeezed anywhere at all with the new body. I reused the fuel lines that were on the original tank but used the new clunk. Had me stumped but it left with the tank so I'm happy.
Edit: I posted a picture a while back that showed my routing. My pressure line (from tank to pipe) wraps around the center drive shaft side of the tank in the lower set of retainer holes. Last night I moved the front, outer retainer to the location a bit further back to ease pressure on that part of the body when I replaced the tank. Key to the truggy body is not cutting a huge side window hole for fueling. I cut the gun hole and a small hole. This allows alot more lexan to reinforce the front windshield and pillar area. I destroyed a body in 1 day after I cut my regular size window hole.. See pics below...

looking good! This is key on the truggy body to insure it will last.

Wasnt exactly my reaction
Hoping I can get a replacement in before JBRL now. Hate running rear skids but at only 3.5 gallons, I may have to.
Edit: Gotta love paying for express shipping, that hurt
Now it will be the mad dash to get it all back together Friday afternoon instead of turning some laps at the track.

I bet! That's no bueno! I run the cheap DE Racing skid plates, and they seem to work well, but do wear out quickly. Hope you get your replacement before JBRL...

3.5-4 gallons that's about right where I would normaly replace a buggy chassis. Does not really seem excessive to me at all. Also depends a lot on the track surface you run on. At least tekno put the screw holes in a place that it's not miserable to work on a car with a worn chassis .

Revelation is pretty nasty and I've spent quite a bit of time over there. Track is always bone dry (until race night when they lightly water and screw it up for everyone) and very rough. The chassis is pretty thin in that area and it sucks that it has worn already but I'm still quite content with the buggy and didnt mind ordering a replacement (provided it arrives Friday
). I have new arms, pills, and sidepods ready to go on when/if the chassis arrives so it will be like driving a new buggy for JBRL
