More then likely you just need to tune the carb a little better. Does it smoke a lot?

I'm pretty sure it wasn't the tune because I had one of the local guys at the track help me tune and he has been doing it for 10+ years plus multiple other people try and nobody could figure it out.

Never mind. Missed the part about it doing it with two engines.

No offense to other tuners but there are some people that have been running nitro for ages that couldnt tune if their life depended on it. I cant imagine something on the car enabling it to run at less then full throttle ok but kill the engine at full throttle with the exception of the clutch bearings, shims, shoes springs, or flywheel. Check those things out and report back :)

I know both people that helped Mason on sat and both are experienced tuners. And since he had exactly the same issue with both engines I doubt it's a tune problem. It's the tank lid Mason, pull the tank and do a pressure test.

OK thanks, will do.

Also check pressuer line in front of tank, mine was pinched between body and tank causing some tuning "issues". Went to much harder DuBro fuel line for pressure route and trimmed some material from tank' splash guard.

+1 I had the same issue last race with two different engines. After inspecting everything post race, I discovered it was the seal on the tank lid. Replaced the tank and both engines ran great.

So Saturday was the first day out with the nb48 and I had a problem. When ever I would reach full throttle or give it a lot of punch coming out of corners it would flame out. I tried two different engines and they both did the same thing. I am pretty certain I put something together wrong, since I'm so new to nitro. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

How new were these engines? What kind of engines?

I did have a tank issue also. The car would run great.. then about halfway through the tank the car would die. Put a new tank in and it has been fine ever since.

If you are having what you believe to be tank issues, just do a pressure test.
  1. Remove tank and empty all fuel.
  2. Place new/unused fuel line on the pressure (lid) nipple.
  3. Plug the outlet with something (your finger works nicely).
  4. Submerge the tank completely in a bucket of water, leaving the fuel line out.
  5. Blow fairly hard into the fuel line and see if any bubbles are escaping the tank. If it is from the lid a new seal may be all you need. Elsewhere then you will probably need to replace the tank.
  6. If tank is still good, make sure to remove all water and run some fuel through the tank to flush it just in case some water managed to sneak in.

Was this the updated tank or the original?
