The protec 2000mah hump pack was a tad to large

New baby coming, I was between JQ and NB48, but Tekno seems the best way to go, more I read about this car the more I like. Also order a couple of spares parts, skid plates, steering bushings, rebuilt joint, set or bearings, kind headz cluth shoes (losi compatible), hobao air filters,. Do you guys knows if the arms included in the kit are the extra tough?

UK.hardcore 12-29-2013 09:10 AM

Yes.

I've had my car for a week now and got a chance to race it last night, car did great actually took the TQ and win. If anyone is considering this car you let tell you that you want be disappointed, I've had most all the big name cars over the past couple years and the Tekno quality is up at the top and is probably the best build of any kits on the market! I've had the EB48 since October and was so impressed with it that I had to try the NB48 and have not been dissapointed. The Tekno quality and durability is incredable and I have been very impressed by the buggies.

I'm still not completely satisfied with my setup so I'm ready to post it but I'll say that it's far from box/kit. I also tried the set up posted on the website and it was very loose in the rear for our current conditions (not a high enough grip level) and the box set up was a good start but just wouldn't carry enough corner speed and I was getting run over in the corners. I've changed so much and the car reacts good to every change and I really like that about the car, when you make a change and go back out you can really feel the difference and see in the lap times weather it was good or bad. I haven't played with shocks yet on the NB and that is what I am going to test and experiment more with this week. I'll post up what I can come up with. PUDDIN, you coming to the Jam race?

Gonna have to make a mount for the rear if I keep using that box but I put it on a blue ofna box and it looked like it'll work good on it. You should just meet up and ride in with ole dude.

He already has someone going with him....probably going to go to the nats track...a bunch of us are going to run down their.

spunkysandoval 12-29-2013 03:57 PM

If anyone needs a good box for this car, pick up the losi rtr box from dollar hobbyz. It has a fully adjustable pin system that works perfect for this car and its a good price.

Sounds good, if the weather turns cold or wet bring the crew indoors here.

I'm using the OFNA blue box. I had to switch the two alignment brackets but it seems to work fine. I think the only thing I may do is add some heater hose to the front right pin to get a tighter fit in the front of the chassis. I have the car shifted to the left and the right front pin is as far over as it'll go.

Would pictures of the pins help?

Like I said I'll probably put some heater hose on that front right pin but the rear pins keep the chassis very straight.

You can also see that I had to drill a hole for the lid hold-down screw.

I'm planning on going to the Jam race GWood - maybe we can meet up at the race and talk Tekno stuff. Sounds like I need to plan on spending a lot of time tweaking the NB setup

My NB is assembled minus a throttle servo - the Reedy 2100mah lipo pack and Associated starter box seem to be a great fit.

Im just looking at the buggy pics this buggy just looks great! Im getting a EB48.2 tomorrow, I bet this would make a nice converted nitro GT car. Hmmm

wstuart 12-30-2013 06:27 PM

I'm putting mine together. I just need to say, this radio tray is absolute GENIUS!!! There has never been a radio tray with this much room, this much weight forward, this low cg, and this clean. Brilliant

spunkysandoval 12-31-2013 06:55 PM

You should still charge it before ever run session. It costs nothing to charge, but it could save you a boat load of money.

How does it handle

I'd like to know how this buggy handles in comparison to say a HB D812. Anybody experienced with driving both? Particularly interested in corner speed and stability over rough tracks. and how is the adjustability? Cheers

jayare 01-02-2014 09:12 PM

So where are the setups and changes to do with this buggy. Id like to know more about it before purchase. .thanks.

spunkysandoval 01-02-2014 09:39 PM

From the stock setup I went all the way in on the front shock lower hole for more droop and I also went to 3 degrees of rear toe with hubs all the way back. It made the car more stable for me.

I also stayed with the kit oils after trying something thicker and it didnt make the car better for me. I also left out the rear most screw on both mud guards to get a little bit more chassis flex.

Another thing I tried was lowering the rear roll center on the tower (raised the link ) and this made the car flip over a bit too much so I think stock rear link setup is best. This kit responds really well to changes and its pretty easy to dial in to your style. To say im very happy with it is understating it by a fair amount.

Almost forgot, the stock pistons are money! Really glad they included the machined 8x1.3s in the box. This car has a dialed shock package. Tripple guides and cnc pistons make for a silky smooth shock. These are every bit as smooth as the kyoshos

jayare 01-02-2014 09:48 PM

Hey man, thanks. Any other input will be great as well. On my buddies car the rear seemed to be loose. We dropped the the camber link and it helped. The car seem to respond well to changes. With the amount of adjustability on it would be nice to know what people are doing for different track conditions. . As far as build fit and finish. I have not seen anything close to it..

spunkysandoval 01-02-2014 09:52 PM

The track I ran on had traction to spare when it was wet so I didnt experience any rear traction issues, but I would make absolutely sure tires are suited to the track conditions and then make changes from there. Another thing I did was swap the sway bars around.

jayare 01-02-2014 09:58 PM

jayare 01-02-2014 10:03 PM

Thanks spunky. Swaping sway bars is calming the steering down? As I notice the car has alot. Whats that doing to the rear?

It slows the steering and gives the rear more traction out of corners. Swapping the sway bars is probably one of the best things to do in low traction conditions.

We are running a 2.8 sway in front and 2.5 in the rear for bumpy low bite conditions. It helped a bunch and allowed us to drive harder and faster without the car wanting to get out of shape in the rough stuff.

If you need more steering at that point, remove some of the steering stop washers for more overall turning angle.

rcjunky10 01-03-2014 12:59 PM

Guys I just ordered my NB48 from Pete at Fierce RC Solutions and he said he will be stocked up on replacements and hopups this coming week. Fast response and good guy to deal with from start to finish!

Starter box question - seems the chassis layout can present issues finding the right box and since I am just getting back into nitro I don't have a box laying around to test. So, some are suggesting the Hudy box, which to me looks like a rebadged Mugen B3. Thoughts as the Mugen box is a great box and about $30 bones to the good in cost.

Thoughts on this box vs the old trusty Ofna truggy box?
