The kits and parts WILL be in stock at Hobbico in due time with plenty of inventory to keep us all happy, we just need to be patient. The D812 was released just before the deal was struck with Hobbico and both companies are doing everything they can. There are people at both companies working very hard to get these products out to us. Hobbico, as it was explained to me, essentially had to do a reorder which is why there has been an increased delay. That being said I am not an official representative of either company but I do drive for both.

As far as the radio tray mod goes it is actually pretty easy...

The carbon that Ty uses, and subsequently that I used is 2mm.

This is a good place to buy carbon, the 12" by 9" sheet is enough to do three radio trays or 6 tops. Watch some youtube videos on safe carbon cutting as the dust can be very harmful. A shop vac hose set up close to where you are cutting and a mask will do it. I found that diamond coated cut off wheels and bits work great for cutting and regular old sanding drums for fine tuning.

Judging by the way the kit builds (built mine last week) there were quite a bit of changes, but a lot were minor really. The most significant changes that I saw were to the front end and steering system. It's massively different than the D8 Hara. The towers looked different as well, but a lot of it looked very similar, but there could be subtle changes all over the car really. Hopefully someone "in the know" can speak better to definitive changes....but to me it looks to be @ 80% the same. That 20% or so that changed make it feel like a COMPLETELY different car though. New shocks, new geometry, new steering setup, new toe system in the front and rear of the car.

I'm loving it thus far, we'll see how it does this weekend. It's first race was at PNB, so hard to get a good gauge since that track is so different than any normal track.

First off, you need a new chassis. The suspension mounts are all different, arms, hub assembly, towers, shocks, etc. The only parts you can carry over are the stuff around the center diff like the tray, fuel tank, motor mount, center drive shafts, etc.

The only way you can experience the difference is to get the new geometry, which I'm afraid, involves changing out lots of stuff. Might as well get the kit and shelf the old car.

yeah it does look similar, but there are cut outs on the chassis to key in the B-plate and narrowed down on the ends to let the mounts drop closer to the ground.

And the dropped mounts are lowering the roll center. Big difference in driving this car versus the D8.

yep, that and the shock mounting position really transformed the car.

Very true....I didn't even think about the droop tabs. I just like the replaceable rear skid plate! haha

Amain's stock is TBA again, Towers has it for LATE AUGUST.
Is Hobbico trying to destroy HB's reputation in the US or something?
One of the rules to buying a car: Get one that you can easily get spares for.

Good thing this car is pretty durable.

My though of the day.

Something don't make much sense. It's hard for me to blame all Hobbico as Hot Bodies has somewhat had this sorta reputation for a good while. Looks like if the product is available, it gets sent to Hobbico and then up for grabs. Seriously hard for me to believe that it's solely Hobbico behind it all.

These kits are sitting on the shelves for several weeks now here in Europe. Such a shame that Hobbico screwed up their first major product launch since purchase.

See, stuff like this makes me think it's not really HB that's screwing up. Or at least HB Europe has a good business model. Unless HB USA is trying to stir up the old supply/demand trick to up the premium cost... But that ain't gonna work with their competitors dishing out products that is just as good. At this point, we can only speculate.

I just wished that I could promote this good car without telling people "But you can't get the kit or spares atm." or being told "That's the car you can't get parts for"

The Great Planes wholesale website says late March on the car and june on most of the parts. Maybe hope is still alive.
