I only ran the lp2 stuff for a month or 2 then switched back to my hara. The 12 is far better than just putting the lp2 parts on the d8. I never felt the lp2 was all that great to me. So I went back to the hara. The 12 does everything I've wanted my hara to always do.

Sounds like HB did a good job on the new car, how is the setup out of the box?

I run the 4s trakpower 70c battery which is pretty big. Just the corner of it sticks out. If i put the battery tray maybe 4 to 5 mil back I don't think it wouldn't have been touching the body.

I raced last friday at west coast using some of tessmann's setup and the car was really good. I was suprised to see that in the first day I was consistently doing the same lap times as in my mugen ECO and the car still has a lot more potential. I only got about 4 or 5 packs on it before racing and I was able to take the TQ in the first run. I blew out in the second qualifier and the main due to my lack of driving skill. Overall this car is very impressive and i look forward to doing more testing with it.

As far as diffs are concerned I have never really tried running a lighter center diff like this. Maybe because i have always gone off of other peoples set up and they were always somewhat of a standard 5-7-3 or even 5-5-2 set up. when you use a 5-3-3 set up what is the goal? Is it to smooth the car out, more steering or what? watching the 2012 dirt nitro challange if you really look at some of the other cars they all seem much more twitchy than tys car. Tys car looked really smooth and responsive but easy to drive( i know that is also due to that he is a great driver) . Me being just a mortal trying understand the reason behind it so i can understand the why?
thanks guys. keep up all the good work.

I'm currently using
Elite RC D8 motor mount

RC monster D8 battery tray

HPI Vorza radio box

HPI Vorza center Diff top deck

Ofna NEXX8 plastic spur gear You'll need to dremel the slot opening on the chassis for the plastic spur gear to fit correctly.

I'm going the tekno d8 route but the tekno chassis has to be narrowed slightly..

Also, with the Elite RC motor mount, make sure you use the d812 kit supplied 1mm washers placed under the differ assembly to prevent the spur gear from sticking out of the chassis bottom. See attached photo, Red ovals are the washers need, and blue lines indicates to dremel flat the side tabs to fit under the Elite RC motor mount.

Kyosho 44T & 46T nylon spurs are a direct drop-in. KYOIF147, KYOIF148

If you prefer metal, the Lightning 44 & 46T LP2 spurs are also a direct fit. HBSC8027, HBSC8027-1

Do you or anyone on here have any pictures of what has to be done to make the D8 tekno V4 fit onto the new D812?

I just did my tekno chassis. Since the inner pin mounts are narrower than the d8 you have to make the chassis narrower. Just use the nitro chassis to see how much you need to remove. Also the front inner suspension mount has some keys on the bottom. you can either grind the chassis to clear those or grind them off. I chose to grind the chassis. It probably would have been easier to just take off the keys. On the rear the ears that the droop screws ride on keep the arm from drooping fully. You can either modify them or modify the arm. I did not want to chance weakening the arms, so I modified the ears. I will redrill the location for the droop screw, screws in the chassis.
