no lack of snap, that i noticed
but i'm sure it will wear more, i'll pick up an alum soon

i got the set up from a local racer (way more serious then i am), but it rotates into the turns better ... less push

i agree ...... stock tires or stock appearing for racing.... no buggy tires (for racing)

a bunch of sc8's with different set ups. i like my set up it suits my driving style

oh and to add to it..most of the guys here that race seriously, run no rear sway bar.... i still have mine on though, but i will run with and without this weekend

SC8 Starter box question
 

I bought a sc8 about two weeks ago and then went out to get a starter box for it (because that starter gun just sucks to use). I bought an Ofna 10247 with a 775 motor. It says it is for 8th scale but when I used it, it just wont turn the motor:flaming:. I tried lipo, 12v car batter, noting seem to have the juice to turn it over. Anyone else have this issue? Is it the motor, does this box work for other poeple with the stock .28 motor in it?:confused: Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

New motors have a ton of compression. Loosen your glow plug a tiny bit and try to start the engine that way. It will lower the compression some and the starter box should be able to turn the engine over. Once it has started just tighten the glow plug back up.

For clutch we've been running the aluminum shoes with 1.0 or 1.1 clutch springs, and 10-10-10 fluids, but our track is fairly high traction.

As mentioned, with new engines, they are pretty tight. Try heating up the engine with a heat gun (or as a last resort, a hair dryer on high heat) for the first couple runs. After that it should be good to go on any starter box.

I'm using the OFNA Truggy start with Team Helotes 4S (14.8v) lipo. No starting issues at all.

Thats what is so weird to me, the motor has about a gallon threw it now and I've raced it twice. So I know its broken in. The RTR drill starter has no problem turning it over (other than the shaft stripping out, anyone else have that problem?). I think the starter motor must not be in the best shape (thats what I get for buying a used one on ebay). I got so spoiled with the T-Maxx starting setup, it was so convenient. Any other ideas will help as I try to figure this out.

I think I'll try the loosening the glow plug idea. If I have to buy a motor, can anyone point me out were I can get a "super" starter motor to replace it with?

ran the truck a bit this weekend... but 2 weeks in a row i've had radio and rx problems.... the stock radio and rx crapped out last week and this week my spektrum rx took a dump. i went with a back up (traxxas- the only thing i had left)

my set up 5/7/1 was nice. it rotated through the turns much nicer ... and rolled out under power

was very free

i wish i had the confidence in the radio i was using to really push it ..

maybe next week

Sorry for the late reply. I havent touched the diffs. Havent found the need to.

I went to the Track today and there were 3 slayers there. Boy does this thing out run them in the corners. In the straights this thing walks by them like they are pitting:nod:.

They changed the track layout to a tighter and more tehcnical, scale track so it would suit the Slash/Slayer races they hold there. It was awsome watching this thing power slide through the corners leaning into the truns while counter steering. I set my brakes up loose up front to allow the truck to steer through the truns while being able to lock up the rear and feather the throttle allowing it to drift though with ease.

I have found a really sweet spot tunning wise and driving wise with this truck. This is the second time I have drawn a croud, the first time out the track was empty for some reason, with it and have had a few people ask me if I was a pro driver:lol::lol:. I tell them that I suck at driving and its the setup I run and the truck that are dialed and awsome!!

The Slayer guys were madly in love with the truck and performance of it the and a couple of them mentioned that they had made the wrong choice in purchasing the Slayer.:lol: The Slash guys got pissed and pulled their trucks off the track for a while:sneaky:
