Are you bashing or racing? MT or truggy tires? If you could raise your budget a bit would get you into some very nice servos.

I use a Savox 1256tg in my 801xt. It's been great, pushes Badlands around with authority. Good speed too. I think it can be found for ~$75 but I've seen as low as 63$.

In a different truggy with MT tires I use a Hitec 7954, even @6v it's plenty. Usually can be found for ~$80+.

In 1/8 MT I use a Solar d772 with Castle bec @7.4v. It's been fine but it does need the bec to get the performance up imo.

There are some Black Friday specials around so you might catch a deal with some searching....I see amain has Protek servos in their specials (never had one but have read good reports)

I would definitely suggest the Hitec either 7954 or 7955. Both are in the $80-90 range but they are excellent servos and it will be the last servo you buy because if it ever breaks (not that its an easy task) you can just send it back to hitec and they will fix it no questions asked. The last time I had to deal with hitec customer service, I didn't even have the receipt and the servo was years beyond normal warranty period. Emailed them to ask if they would fix it, got a reply the next morning, sent it in and got it back in a week and receipt said replaced gear with no charge. What more can you ask? I've only bought hitec servos since then.

On the other hand, Savox is a different story if and when you need to get it fixed. Let's just say my experience was not one I would want anyone to go through. I know most have great experience with Savox, but I was not one of the lucky ones.

Apologies for my ignorance but is the spur gear 48 pitch?

OK, well I'm not spending a 100 bucks for the RC Monster conversion kit.

I can get an HPI Trophy or AE RC8.2e motor mount for cheap. What else do I need? I'll have to study up on drilling a hole in the chassis I guess.. I tried this years ago on my Muggy, and it worked, but not as smoothly as I would have hoped..

Would an MT4 G3 motor mount work? Since I have an MT4 G3, it'd make sense to have a spare I guess.... Makes sense with the AE mount too, since I have four 8th scale AE's....

I think the price is pretty expensive too but seems like the easiest way to convert it without the guess work.

I found this post from another RC Tech member:

No, 32pitch and mod1 gearing has different spaced gear teeth. The will not work together, pinion and spur both have to be the same, both either 32picth or both mod1. The hole for the shaft is independent of whether its 32pitch or mod1.

1/8th buggys use mod1 gearing, some 10th scale Monster trucks use 32 pitch.

The rc-monster conversion kit is really worth it. I tried going the cheap route with the integy motor mount and it didn't fit.

One, it's only available on a different continent..(add 50 bucks probably just to get it..) And two, I don't want to spend on a conversion kit, which consists of two or three little parts, what I paid for the whole kit..

The RC8 motor mount fits perfectly. I checked the MBX7T battery/ESC tray and all that's needed is to drill the holes for the 6 screws that secure it to the chassis.

Six screws have to be drilled?.. That's definitely out of the question...

(Thanks though..)

I've had this kit half built just laying around for like 6-7 months. I also have a brand new Ace 150ESC and 2000 Ripper motor just laying around.. Plus a good 5000 4s battery, which I got for my SC8e. I'm selling the SC8e though - it's about the most boring RC I've ever had.. Anyway, it would be good to get it up and running somehow..

My apologies for not clarifying. The holes have to be drilled in the tray, not the chassis. The chassis has 4 holes where the ESC tray is installed an 2 that would secure the battery tray for certain. Just mark your battery tray and drill away.

If all I'd have to do is drill the tray that's fine... So AE mount and Mugen tray, and that's it? Thanks!

ps What about the servo tray?....

Yes sir. Only the tray needs to be drilled. I know you're not in the US so I'm not sure if you can get the same deal where you are... I got a packet from dollarhobbyz.com that included the servo tray rx box, battery and ESC tray, bumper, chassis stone guards, and mud guards, along with some other small goodies that I'm unsure of their purpose. http://www.dollarhobbyz.com/mugen/mb...ds-bumper.html

The MBX7T rear shox just arrived along with some MT4 G3 tires and wheels. Those wheels are FIRKIN HUGE!!! I just planned to use them for bashing to give extra clearance and cushioning from bigger air landings. I had no idea I could also use them on my Honda Pilot or Jeep Grand Cherokee! GEEZ! lol

Shox built and installed and the MT4 G3 wheels are mounted. It's a monster truggy now. lol I'll see how it rides tomorrow.
