I think most stick to the kits 35w. I've ran 40w and felt good also.

Is that 40w front and rear? some people recommends that the front should be a bit stiffer. I am a bit puzzled. All I know is that my rear shocks are too soft. When you drop the kit at the height of 1ft, the chassis slams to the ground

Your rear end is waaaay too soft then.
Take a look at some of the setup sheets online. Mayfield's 2009 ROAR 1/8 Fuel Offroad Nats setup is a pretty standard place to start for outdoor tracks.

I would go with the box set up. So you have a base line to work from. Also a car doesn't drop straight down when jumping.

The box CE setup has been dailed for me. 35wt front and rear 1.3x6 pistons silver springs.

In the cold I run 30wt but I think its time to go back to 35wt this week.

I think I will start with the box set up and adjust the shock oils if needed.

Thanks

You will love the stock setup. Maybe go down to 30wt in the front or 30wt all the way around but its a good setup! Good luck

Unhappy shock set up

Hi guys,

I changed the set up of my suspension to stock. How will I know if my shocks are too soft? I tried to drop my kit at at height of 1 foot. The front end of the chassis slams to the ground? Is this normal?

Set the ride height to 38/44 and track test it. If it feels lazy and don't react fast enough to light on shock oil and if it bucks ad feels bouncy ur to thick on shock oil. IMO.

well, i finally raced yesterday with the rc8t ce and wow it does not handle like a "truggy" at all its like a "buggy rotates like one and steers like one" i cant believe how much "steering throw" it has.

i added about 2 degress of toe out on the front and it does have a tons of steering maybe a bit much but im just going to get used to it for now.

oh yea its very quick add that with a 4 shoe clutch its quick !

its defiely not heavy the specs are wrong lol .

You don't need to drop it 1ft. Just drop it from 6 or so inches, enough to settle the suspension. Then check the ride height. If you drop the truck from a foot its going to bottom out. If you flat land on the track on a big jump, it will bottom out. Try to land front wheels first (barely) and it'll be smooth and not slam the ground.
