My new white tank cracked where the springs for the gas cap sit on the tank. I think AE will take care of us but the tanks are currently on backorder and doesnt sound like they will be available for a couple of weeks. I talked to Don from AE on the issue earlier this week. If this keeps up im just gonna mod another brand of tank to fit , i get to race once a week and sometimes travel over 2 hrs to race. It kinda stinks to spend way over a thousand bucks to set up a competitve buggy and i try to all of the best stuff avaiable and a stupid $20 dollar gas tank ruins the whole raceday.
Anyone else tried a different brand tank yet?? I think the losi tank with the "clunker" would be awesome.

Mine did the exact same thing with less than 12 tanks of fuel through it. Going back to the smoke colored tank, I noticed that spring on the white tank is a lot heavier.

Questions?? gas tanks

i thought about spiting the tank apart, and cutting out the stiffeners out, and drill a hole in the tank and make it like the losi gas tank. but i dont know what to use to seal up the tank again. or does this sound like a dum idea??

Default Tank problems

Would anyone be interested in an custom aluminum tank at about $50-75 a piece? Looks like there is a market for quality tanks. Just read an article about how NovaRossi is selling exhaust gas coolers to increase fuel mileage. An aluminum tank would keep the fuel cool and be tough as nails. Keeping the weight and cost down would be the only challenges. I could have the first one wiped up in Solid Works and have it laser cut and welded in about a week.

Also, I'm testing some custom Titanium toe plates for the RC 8. I got other little bits and goodies in the works that I'll reveal later.

Can anyone using a OFNA chrome top starter box please post a pic of their set up. Its a bit tricky getting the posts set up so that the car seats properly and I am hoping some one can shed some light on the subject.
Thanks

The best way to set up a starter box is take the engine off so you can set the car down and let the wheel stick up through the chassis then mark were your posts need to go.

AE is aware of the new take troubles and have pulled all the cracked ones from there stock.

If you have a tank that has the little crack above the fuel nipple you can fix it really easy. Take nipple out and put a small amount sealant on the threds. Put the nipple back in and then use a soldering iron to seal the crack and all is good.

Nice Shane Racer - any chance to use the soldering iron is welcome (since I don't race electrics). I appreciate the simple creativity and ingenuity to resolve a minor issue. That's why we participate in this forum!

I ran that in the winter when it was real cold. Now outdoor also on real bumpy blown out tracks I'm at 40 with the 1.4 pistons with the 2 additional 1.1mm holes drilled in them. That's front and back.

There's nothing wrong with what you are suggesting. Give it a try. We're not all Tebos and Cavs, so sometimes ya just have to work your own setup.
