Anyone know what the line of sight range is on the RTR radio... XP3D?

I want to shorten the antenna length but want to be sure it does not go and do its own thing if you know what I mean...LOL.

Also another quick question... If I were to get an BCE chassis and put all my parts from my RC8 on it... what would I have to get as far as to make it work. Thanks.

Default rtr or kit?

after many years of wanting to, im finally going to get an 1/8 buggy, brand was easy, have always been a fan of associated, so my question is because i am a beginner to 1/8 and have been away from nitro for a few years(used to have nitro 1/10 stadium truck) should i get the rtr or the 8.2 ft kit? thoughts?

I would suggest the ft kit. It comes with all the go fast goodies you will want to upgrade the rtr with so just start out with them in the kit.

I also took the plung to 8th scale recently. I never considered an RTR since I had the radio and servos already and knew that I would want something else. Also the RTR comes with an 0.28 engine which is not legal for racing at my local track so I picked up a RC8.2 FT. I also picked up a Reedy 121VR engine and Reedy 2035 pipe and have not been disappointed. The base kit is great if you follow the set-up info from the RC8.2 FT thread. Lovin'it!

I have a couple questions re building up an RC8B..

Basically, I just built up an RC8T from ebay chop shops, and have ended up with a box full of spare AE parts. I have a nitro RC8T and SC8, and was thinking of getting a Tekno V4 chassis and making either an RC8Te or SC8e, but that project keeps escalating in price, so now I'm thinking maybe of just building up a buggy(and maybe ordering an AE conversion kit at some point, for maybe one of the three some day..) For starters I would need an RC8B chassis plate..

But now (thinking out loud..), I need to know for sure what else I need.

I have gear boxes, arms, CVD's, battery tray, diffs, center diff mounts/brakes, etc.., shocks...

1.) Are th A, B, C, and D plates the same as from the RC8T?
2.) Are the center drive shafts the same as the RC8.2?
3.) I have two new RC8T shock towers.. Are they the same as from the RC8B?

Kind of just brainstorming options here.. Anything I'm missing? Open to suggestions.. Thanks..

The ABCD plates are the same, the towers are differtent from the truggy and buggy. The center shafts are the same on front but longer on rear for the 8.2 I think. I have the blue towers and the rc8b chassis plate if you are interested I would sell them. I ran my old rc8b as nitro but it is still in good shape.

Just checking on ebay.. If you get the "Upgrade" RC8B towers, do you need to change anything else?

Thanks for the offer, but after looking a bit, I think if I go this route I'd like to get the +3mm chassis, and Upgrade towers, assuming everything else is the same.. I don't want RC8.2-specific parts...

Will an RC8.2 body fit on an RC8B? What other cab-forward style bodies will fit the RC8B(original chassis with Upgrade towers)?.. Thanks..

8.2 will fit an 8b and vise versa . It' 3 mm difference. Don't know the answer to the second part of your question.

I know about the difference in length. Was more wondering about the width...

I guess the body I would like best is an RC8.2 Bulldog or the 2nd version of the Bitty Design.. I know on my 8.2 the Bulldog was more snug than the stock body...

Looks like I'm picking up a good condition (brand new chassis, with everything else freshly rebuilt by someone competent..) RC8B with Upgrade towers for really cheap. But it's got one of those old school bodies on it, which I don't think I can abide.. Looks good - but jeeze that old wing mount looks way up there.. Here are some pics:

Width is the same. That is the standard 8b wing mount. The wheels and tires look small in circumference.
Maybe just the pic angle...

Wheels are just freebies.. I have a shorter wingmount and stock Jconcepts wing... So I think with a decent body, wheels, and shorter wing mount and cooler wing, it'll be about what I want..

We'll see...

I thought the RC8.2 chassis was narrower though?..... But whatever.. If the 8.2 bodies fit that's all that matters...

Get the 8.2 kit ! The RTR version is still the first generation.
