1. check all parts are loctited as some kits have had problems with screws coming loose, especially the front centre universal.

2.make sure that your end points on the throttle servo are set properly and that there is no binding (under braking especially). 3-5mm of fuel tubing on the pull side of the throttle servo horn is a must.

3. the plastic inserts in the factory servo horns have been known to strip on the steering servo so it might pay to get a solid aluminium horn for the steering.

4.the plastic rear bearing inserts wear pretty quickly on the 8T so it might pay to get the ali ones part# LOSA4430 theyre alot cheeper that replacing a crown and pinion gear.

5.clutch shoes either king heads 7075's or the dynamite long lifes would be my pick haven't tried the new losi long lifes yet

I'm sure there are things that other people have or are doing but these a just a few to get you started

have fun burn nitro

Superlative--this should get you started. Add heat shrink to the CVD's and enjoy. The info above is from another on here. Some people have added a lexan floor to the battery box to protect the battery from the plastic screw boss that's in the bottom.

Run 4 carbon Losi plastic clutch shoes with all GOLD springs. Incredible clutch life(2-3 gallons, at least). I think it helps the clutch bell bearings last longer. Maybe reduced heat build-up over aluminum shoes.

Drive the car calm. Not aggressivly and it will be fast. Slow is fast.

Johnkemp--set the EPA correctly. That's about all you need to worry about. Add some heatshrink to the front and rear CVDs.

brad996--if you feel the play is excessive try some shims. Are you checking this backlash with diff fluid in, or is it dry? I've not heard of too many people having diff problems. Actually I have about 12 gallons on mine and they seem ok. But if they ever blow up then I'll know. lol. Original gears, cases, ring, pinion. New seals every now and then though.
Correct me if I am wrong but isn't the ring gear and the spur the same? If so I think that the spur/ring gear is 48T.

I just used the part numbers that were in the manual. I didn't actually take my diffs apart and count. But according to the manual and on-line stores the diff ring is 43T. So IDK. Anyone else know any better?

Thumbs up

The ACE Servos look great. The Traxxas guys seem to love them. The price is good as well.
Aslo look into the Brushless Futabas. You will not go wrong with those.

Carl - Your car looked very good for you the other night. Joe said, "It just goes to show you.... that youth and skill have nothing on old age and treachery."
I told him I thought you were catching him at one time.
Brian Jefferson got his fastest laps ever as well.
Good night of racing!

You were fast as sh** also!!!! It was alot of fun, I haven't driven since JCG's and im in need of practice. But that's no excuse to losing to Joe. He was on his game...And he is alot faster than last time i raced him! GO JOE !!!!! All the throttle control i know i learned from him and Jason, so if i was behind him (without being lapped) It's a good thing. Brian looked great too, for someone who took a couple of month's off. He has improved alot with his driving, but when he's pushes it too hard he's crashes.Funny thing is when he's mad,he turn's the fastest lap's...What a great hobby! See you next week Tex and Thank's for letting me use your pit table.

Well, after 9-10 gallons and breaking 1 a-arm, a couple shock stand-offs, 2-3 shock cap bottoms, its finally time for a complete rebuild. The chassis is quite thin, and many countersunk screws are quite sharp. My steering rack is sloppy also. BUT after that much use, I expect this wear and tear to happen to any vehicle, if not more. I must say, I have been very pleased with the Losi 8.

9-10 Gallons?? WHAT?

my car gets a full rebuild every 2 meets,it gets shocks redone every meet aswell.

That really is a testament to how durable the car is!

Has anyone bought or have experience with the 8ight Race Roller?

Sorry I'm lazy now and do not want to build a kit. I'm considering the Race Roller and/or the RTR. Just trying to figure out what is a better value.
