Run 4 carbon Losi plastic clutch shoes with all GOLD springs. Incredible clutch life(2-3 gallons, at least). I think it helps the clutch bell bearings last longer. Maybe reduced heat build-up over aluminum shoes.

The diff ratio is 3.30:1 The ring gear is 43T and the pinion is 13T.
Johnkemp--set the EPA correctly. That's about all you need to worry about. Add some heatshrink to the front and rear CVDs.
brad996--if you feel the play is excessive try some shims. Are you checking this backlash with diff fluid in, or is it dry? I've not heard of too many people having diff problems. Actually I have about 12 gallons on mine and they seem ok. But if they ever blow up then I'll know. lol. Original gears, cases, ring, pinion. New seals every now and then though.

I always wondered how the Ace servo's held up. I know Air8 uses them with good result's..

The ACE Servos look great. The Traxxas guys seem to love them. The price is good as well.
Aslo look into the Brushless Futabas. You will not go wrong with those.

You were fast as sh** also!!!! It was alot of fun, I haven't driven since JCG's and im in need of practice. But that's no excuse to losing to Joe. He was on his game...And he is alot faster than last time i raced him! GO JOE !!!!! All the throttle control i know i learned from him and Jason, so if i was behind him (without being lapped) It's a good thing. Brian looked great too, for someone who took a couple of month's off. He has improved alot with his driving,but when he's pushes it too hard he's crashes.Funny thing is when he's mad,he turn's the fastest lap's...

Well, after 9-10 gallons and breaking 1 a-arm, a couple shock stand-offs, 2-3 shock cap bottoms, its finally time for a complete rebuild. The chassis is quite thin, and many countersunk screws are quite sharp. My steering rack is sloppy also. BUT after that much use, I expect this wear and tear to happen to any vehicle, if not more. I must say, I have been very pleased with the Losi 8.
