Here's a pic. parts used are thunder tiger MT4-G3 front bumper shock absorber, HB D8t inner hinge pin, and a bunch of small rubber grommets.

Makes perfect sense! I just put on a Tbone rear bumper and wheelie bar on yesterday as well and see what you are saying so i'll be trying to reinforce the bumper a little like you did. Any chance you remember what brand body posts you used on the aluminum, my local hobby store had nothing in stock like those?

Great looking paint job, really like to look of that old chevy body on your MT!

Here's a link. Emaxx RPM posts. Just have to cut , then drill hole in aluminum. Then I drill a small hole in the lower part of the post on the underside of the aluminum...and insert a body clip so the post stays put

Ordered, thanks again Chainsaw. I'll be sure to post a few pics once i have the tower to tower brace and everything else put together!

No problem! Here's another cheap thing to pick up if you have a Harbor Freight nearby. A cheap rubber grommet assortment set. Use these to set the height of the posts so they meet the body just right....plus they add a bit of cushioning so the posts can compress a bit on lid landings.

Here's another Tekno project I'm working on. Not quite an MT410 but it shares the same chassis. This is my Tekno short course that turned monster....a very lightweight narrowed MT410 basically. XL 2.2 Crawler tires on 17mm hex wheels, mamba max pro, tekin 2000kv truggy motor. This is all spare stuff I had laying around from past projects, including the body. The SC just sat on the shelf so I wanted to turn it into something I'll actually use.

The grommets are a great suggestion ill try those as well!

Your SCMT is a sweet looking rig! Setup like you have it i bet she hauls ass and is a blast to drive!! Do you run mainly 4 or 6S?

chainsaw10 09-13-2017 05:47 AM

I only put this together yesterday and just ran it once. I only tested with 3s and it's pretty darn fast , I'm gonna try 4s today. Hopefully I don't blow the squishy crawler tires off the wheels.

looks cool!

3500ltz 09-13-2017 10:20 AM

Oh right forgot the squishy soft compound tires, 3-4s is probably plenty in that case! Let me know if you have any running videos of it! I have 6s stuck in my head from my last vehicle haha.

I'm not sure if its gearing or weight (or both) but i figured i may need 6s on my new MT410 since that's what i ran with in my Arrma. After running the MT on 4s with a 16-17t pinion it seems to have plenty of speed/torque and am probably not far off how fast my Arrma is on 6s!

Only 12 days from Tower Hobbies! Not too bad for 5,748 miles.

Let the build begin! (1st build since the 80s, wish me luck) Any tips from you guys who build Tekno kits in your sleep?

I had one of the plastic shock cartridge caps break which caused a bunch of damage to that particular shock. I would recommend upgrading to the metal ones to eliminate that potential problem. That, and maybe reinforcing where the 4mm nut holds the shock posts to the shock towers. They will pull through the plastic body mount when you land a jump badly. I used some G-10 2mm thick material to fashion some pieces to fit between the nut and body mount holders.

Thanks guys. I am enjoying this build and taking my time. I've just built the 3 diffs. Working with the 100k and 50k oil was a learning experience. Who knew playing that old game Operation was training for getting those pins through the outdrive holes in the diff cups ;-)

Bag C in the morning...will likely order those metal shock caps. Are there two different types?

petmotel 09-16-2017 10:14 AM

Cartridge caps are on the bottom of the shock, they hold the O-rings and bushings in place.

TKR6015 ? Shock Cartridge Caps (aluminum, gun metal anodized, 2p

I broke my rear diff pinion gear last night. I managed to find one in stock but it won't be here till late next week and I'm dying to drive the truck this weekend. Has anyone ever run in RWD only? I'm wondering if I can take the pinion out of the front diff and just take out the long center driveshaft to disable FWD.
