I hope everyone realizes the traxxas "big bores" are actually shorter than the MGT shocks so you will loose some suspension travel switching to those. Also the big bores are the same diameter as the stock traxxas ultra shocks.

Yep, I almost bought them for my MGT until I found that out. Thinking about the FT Aluminum shocks.

They're actually only a couple millimeters shorter than the stock shocks. I'm still getting full suspension travel with the traxxas shocks (the stock shocks actually over extend into the arms).

You will have to do something with the ESC in order to
use the lipos.
Programing ain't a easy thing, for me
I allready programmed that ESC to use those lipos, and that was not that hard, when you read that "how do that" part into user manual.

Im thinkin to take my GPS navigator and put that into my truck to see how fast it will go.

But the Rival is ready, lipos are fully charged, and everything seems to be working.

I just came home from my nightshift so now Im going to sleep few hours and then its bashing time!

OK...

I just completed my first run on Rival, and im just speechles...
That has to be the most RC car I have ever owned!

First I did some tops peed testing on empty asphalted mall parking lot, and accordin to GPS topspeed of that truck is 50 km/h or 31 mph.

Only problem was that the truck kept bearing left all the time, even I tried to compensate that problem with transmitter "fine tuning knobs".

Then I went to nearby sandpit to do some bashing around, and that was the time that fun really started!

I did some very serious jumping and even flipped and cartwheeled that truck couple of time down the hill, and break nothing.

Only problem was, that the motor wanted to heat a bit, I did´t have my ir temp gun with me, so I don´t know how hot that motor was, but when I stick my finger on it I could hold it the maybe 5 sec until it started to feel uncorfortable.

I also tried to put a drop of water on that motor, and it did´t evaporated instantly, but it did fade away in 20-30 seconds.

So i have to keep eye on that motor. the ESC did´t heat at all.

But offcourse this day was really war (28C or 82,5F) and that loose sand is pretty "rough" surface to drive.

So next thing to do:

- Fix that steering problem
- Change maybe 50W shock silicon, and some stiffer springs

But so far I´m really happy to my Rival!

I´m sorry for my bad english...

Thumbs up

Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa, now thats what I'm talking about.
I got the red springs and gold springs just sitting on the table
ready to be put on, I'm getting lazy
As I type, my 2 batteries are being charged, we are going out later to do
some parking lot runs
You should be able to fine tune the steering on the transmitter.
Mine does great on that part.

I tried to fine tune that steering on the transmitter, but that did not help.
So I unskrewed that servosaver off the steering servo alignet those wheels straight and put that part back on ---> now my truck goes perfectly straight when the trim on transmitter is on it´s "neutral" position.

But one thing is sure... You don´t want to stand straigt behind that truck when you put the hammer down...
That thing shoots rocks and other debries like grazy, and those can really hurt...

Im more use those Crawlers which are slower than turtle on sedatives, so I was stupid enought to try that by accident...

Today I found the first broken part from that thing...

That tool which came within the truck to use to tight those wheel nuts is broken.
When I first tried to put those wheels on I was puzzeled that non of those tools did not fit on those wheel nuts.

So I tightened those using my normal ratchet and 17mm socket, and just thinking that im too stupid to use those tools which came with that kit.
But today I checked those tools closer and observed that the tool which ment to use to tighten those wheels is "compressed" at the "business end".

I don´t know the actual english word for that thing, but it looked like some heavy thing has dropped on that thing and which suppposed to be perfectly round is for some reason crooked,
and for that reason it does not fit over that wheel nut.

BTW

Where did you get those springs, and whose manufactured those?

Team associated makes the springs, the part numbers
are as follows.
Red springs=firm part#25064
Gold spring=soft part#25642
Copper springs=extra firm part#25065
All of this stuff can be seen at TowerHobbies.com
When I look for stuff for my Rival, I type in MGT
just about all the MGT monster truck parts fit the Rival.

Nice looking tires, where did you get those?

I have some old Team Losi LST parts lying around including shocks and tires, so lets see how those will fit on that truck...

Have anyone else have some wobbling issues on those stock tires?

I just read another forum about this truck, and someone have put 21T pinion on that truck (stock is 18T) and he says that the stock Rival is undergeared, and it will go much faster with that gearing without any problems...

But I think that modification will definedely overheat that motor.

i run 5000mah gens ace lipo's and i think that everyone can agree that gens ace will give you the absolute best bang for your buck, i have been using them in my scte for a long time now and they run through it better than my venom which was 3 times the price, i would defiantly recommend them to any new or seasoned hobbyist.
