Yeah the slipper is a crazy setup. There are aftermarket slippers you can get. I started off sandblasting the little washer to give it a little more bite and that worked for a while. I finally wound up squirting a bunch of CA in there and cranking the nut down. That seems to be my MO for anything with a slipper on it these days.

I use the Atomic slipper pads between the metal ring and the gear.

Mine runs very cool. I've never temped it because I can tell by touching it, heat isn't an issue. Castle Creations recommends not letting anything get over 200°F., so you're probably ok.

The kinda "rule of thumb" (no pun intended) is exactly that. If you can't touch it for more than 2 seconds it's too hot. Maybe you need to work up some calluses.

I had one, loved the car but sold it. I think Kyosho has more interest in the Mini-Z scene since this is big business for them. I switched to an Asso Rc18T, little bit smaller but there are more 18th scales than 16th scales. Hopefully the big companies like Tamiya and Kyosho continue in the future with the development of new 16th cars.

I don't get it! Mini-Zs are like remote controlled tamiya 4wd toy cars! (although the mini inferno with it's stupid white pink blue shell looks like one too... till they notice the rather non toycar-ish ESC's LEDs lighting up under it's shell and see it run )

Arty, man dont knock on the min-z's! They are loads of fun , and they are as cheap as racing gets.Nothing better than 6 guys hanging out and running till the wee hours of the morning in your base ment and it doesnt cost a dime!

Companies like 3Racing, GPM en Atomic makes lot of stuff for the mini-z's more than any other model.
