Mini Inferno!!
 

Hi all, is the Mini Inferno losing popularity or has it never had any? I just bought one and thing it's a fantastic buggy! I just did a motor reverse mod and now motor is on the rear right side instead of the front left. I would like to know my brushless options for this car right now? i was thinking that since i've changed my motor's position, i can afford to have a longer motor than the standard mamba 1/18th scale short can motor. Since i come over from the EP flying side the first thing which occurred to me was that it looked very similar to the Himax 2015 or the hacker B20 short can version. Can i use the Himax 2025 or the long can version of the B20 for this car? would it give me any considerable performance advantage over the short can versions such as the mambas? I was thinking 5400kv + 16t pinion... What do you guys think?

i dont really think the mini inferno ever really had alotof popularity. my friend has one that he is going trick out and for a bl system i would try the novak mongoose system. im not sure if it will fit so i would ask about that

yea can see that lol. The novak mongoose is obviously my dream brushless but it's extremely expensive!!!

The mini-inferno if a super car. The problem is other mini-racers DONT like to let them run with them.

I have ran the Mamba setups in the Mini Inferno without any major problems. I also used an Align 450XL motor in one without any problems.

How does the align motor compare to the mambas? I would guess that the 400 sized align motor and 400 powered long can B20 should be better than the mamba/short canned B20?

I liked it alittle more then the Mambas. I would still be using it but I sold it with a heli. It also worked just fine with the Mamba 25 esc I was using it with.

I really liked the looks and bought an ST. I have been disappointed in how flimsy it seems to be and what it will take money wise to upgrade it to reliably run a bl setup without constantly breaking something. If you look at some of the used ones being sold, there's not much that hasn't been replaced with stronger parts.

I'd have been better off to have bought a used one that had already or partly been modded.

when the Mini Inferno first came out Pottbellys Raceway held the first ECC
and Kyosho sent Jeremy Kortz and Reagan La Blanc. We had 2 heats of Mini Infernos....It was freaking awesome....They brought the unreleased STs
Potbellys had a regular MI class and I enjoyed running them.....We ran them again at the 2nd ECC Kyosho gave away the Nitro 09s.....
Once Potbellys closed....I sold ours....We had a good 2 years with them.
Not the cheapest to set up either.....but they ran well once bullet proofed.

Would you say running the align motor was torque-ier of faster?

I ran the Align 4050kv in my ST. It was faster but the outrunner
motor did not have snappy torque....I ran it w 8 2/3 a cells
and the Mamba 25 w older firmware.

Ive tried a couple setups so far and hands down go with a ammo motor, wanna see torque and you can gear it up for some speed even with no heat issues. Here is my ongoing build with TLT tires

I found the same thing when I bought my first one. Once I had it bullet proofed I just built my son's from 100% Parts. Starting with the KM-RC carbon fiber chassis, atomic Ver. 2 ball diffs, 3 racing HD cvd's. The only parts that were stock Kyosho peices were suspension arms and bulkheads. Ran tekin mini-rage 6800kv systems in them with 6 cells and they were both rocket ships.

I heard the ball diffs come loose easily, is that true?

Nice mods you've got there. Here's mine with minimal mods lol. Just bought it not long ago and looking for a direction to go. I wannna go faaaast! Since i live in Hong Kong, there are some chinese 1/18 brushless sets which are really affordable at around 50USD, might wanna try that out first.

Artyspec, the 3 racing ball diffs loosen constantly. The atomic ball diffs are super bullet proof. Here are pics of one of my mini inferno buggies before I went brushless with it. Even with the brushed set-up it was sick fast.
