Notes - nice wide body, but front digs into rails and gets stuck easily. Takes chunks out of track - will be exploring other options. Front tires were around 22.4 mm for this run, rear tires were new. Fighting traction roll...

Class- Open AWD
Date- May 18, 2021
Location- Elkton, MD
Race Time- 274.02
Fastest Lap- 3.37
Chassis- Atomic BZ3
Body- lexan
Wheelbase- 98mm
Tires- PN KS medium slicks front , Marka V1- 10 rear
Motor- team powers 3500 kv
Batteries- LiPO
Front Springs- red
T-Plate- Rear springs red
Motor Mount- NA

Notes - This car could be faster and could handle better but it needs a full rebuild. It is eating through CVD’s at an alarming rate, is not that predictable on corner exit, has very twitchy steering and has a lot of chirps and squeaks. Not sure if the complexity of AWD is worth it at this point... the RWD cars are much easier to set up and drive.

Please check my tabulations and let me know if I made any mistakes. Same layout for June but COUNTER CLOCKWISE. Drive fast!

Thanks for tabulating and posting up the results for May. Being involved in the back and forth Facebook postings for best time in stock class at the end of May was a blast! It got really interesting when Traveler and Lou started posting up sub 3 second laps and close to or below 4 minute runs (pro stock).

Huge thanks to Traveler for taking all the time helping me get my cars setup by answering the endless stream of newb questions - and offering very helpful suggestions.

Looking forward to CCW runs this month!

I just ordered a mini-96, I'm excited to join in! That said, I only have an old ASF AWD that might qualify for stock? Does anyone run dnano for this challenge?

I think I can also talk a buddy into joining, he just picked up the new Mercedes GT3 RTR

Welcome to the Challenge! Nice to have new entrants. Most of my cars are the original ASF MR-03s. Your AWD should be good for Stock class if you use the prescribed motors, but probably won't be competitive with the 2wd cars unless you are an AWD master. I'd recommend picking up an MR-03 RWD ready set to run in Box Stock class too. You and your buddy will be more evenly equipped, and it can then be upgraded to run in other classes if you like it better than AWD on Mini96. If you have an ASF radio you really like, you could look for an ASF MR-03 instead of the newer FHSS RWDs, but they are harder to find. AMain has several RWD ReadySets in stock right now for $174.99 with free shipping, but act fast if you choose to go this route, because they sell out fast.

Awesome - glad to have you on board. If you aren’t already there, check int the FB group for M96 World Challenge. We sometimes post our current best times there and gripes/thoughts about various aspects of a given layout.

I ran a BZ3 for open AWD last month and am in the (very slow) process of rebuilding it with new bearings and some other things. I may run it this month or maybe next, but the RWD cars have been a lot more fun for me.

good luck, have fun!

I saw reference to running rough side on the first page, is that still the case?

Any tips on storing? Do you do the same method of single tile with border on as the 50cm track or can you safely store larger sections with borders?

Thanks, looking forward to getting my first laps in!

We switched to the smooth side a while ago. Mine stays down all the time, but think stacking individual tiles like we do with 50cm or sections should be fine as long as they are not too bent.
