Mini-96 World Challenge

I understand what people are feeling about lap times. I stared off Friday night running in the mid 6s, but last night I was down in the upper 4s. That is without any changes to my car yet, just trying to get a feel for the track. Will soon start to make some changes to the car, but have to work this weekend which limits my time to run til Monday.

Hello All,
Here are the results for December. Unfortunately we only had three participants but that is understandable with the holidays and how busy everyone is. I do want to welcome TomTheGeek who joined us for the first time and ran a GLF in Open 2WD. I also want to thank Traveler for his write up on his thoughts and observations for this month's running, I think writing down some monthly observations will be useful to look at down the road especially when we start recycling the circuit layouts. Also great to see Scionara back and running both a GLA and a GLR, Open 2WD could produce some good battles on track.
Box Stock-
1st- Traveler 351.1s Race Time/ 4.265 Fast Lap
Stock-
1st- Traveler 324.675s Race Time/ 3.88s Fast Lap
Open 2WD-
2nd- TomTheGeek 378.39s Race Time/ 4.39S Fast Lap
1st- Scionara- 320.50s Race Time/ 3.68s Fast Lap
Open AWD-
1st- Scionara- 315.31s/ 3.69s Last Lap
FTM-
Scionara with a 3.68s running his GLR
I am thinking January is going to be great, we already have some new people running laps and I know there are a bunch of new track so hopefully some of these folks will join us. I also love seeing that there is a GLF running with us and I am interested in seeing what this car can do as it gets more track time.
I also wanted to send a note to the new guys, as some of us have mentioned do not get frustrated (well, as least do not let your frustration get you down), as with anything being competitive takes time and patience. Spend the time practicing and your time will start to drop....I guarantee it.
Lets see what you guys can do and have fun.
Cheers,
Jim

Notes -The car had major push this morning and realized the front tires were VERY worn as well. I only had one set of fronts left and they were PN Mediums so I mounted them up. I seem to be needing to replace a lot of front tires all at one time and I am realizing that you really need a good 20 minutes of run time to break in new fronts and then they just keep getting better for awhile. I ran a pack on the new tires and then went for a timed stint. The car felt good and was pretty consistent but it would still traction roll if I pushed to hard, I traction rolled twice on this stint but got lucky and it came to rest on its wheels both times. I could not pull the same fast lap time yet but I will give it a couple more stints before I go changing my set up as I know the car can be competitive.

Alright, just set up the circuit before my wife heads to VT and got a few laps in with my Box Stock Car. This is going to be a fun fast track.
I would much rather spend the night doing laps but I am off to RI for our office holiday party.....nothing like driving for 6 hours round trip for a 3 hour party.....did I mention I would rather stay home and run laps....
Cheers,
Jim

dont be discouraged when u see times way faster.
I have been racing since 2013 and started with offroad on long island at long island raceway then switched to onroad when 360v2 in new Rochelle opened up and running with fast guys u pick up a few things here and there to suit your style of driving.
the car that did the 3.55 is the gla I got from ljh and I swapped the motor out for a 5250kv, way faster then the 3500kv i got it with so just keep at it u are ganna find something that works for u. Different radio settings might be the key to calm the car down or a spring change in front or back.

Just got a track from Hobby Recreation Products. Their team working around the holidays to ship it out to me. $230 shipped, no taxes was the best deal I found.
Anyways I'm excited to improve my skills and be more consistent on the race line. I have to convince my business manager to let me hang around the warehouse after hours to set it up. I dont have quite enough space for a full layout at home. Most of my rooms are only 12x9

They now have a coupon for $15 off $150 or $30 off $250.

Hello all!
I just set up a track in my home(hello from Bulgaria), but unfortunately I couldn’t source a proper RCP track, and me and my mate built an EVA foam base(same like smooth RCP on feel) and we put foam barriers going by the design of the January track. Here is a photo of it, I hope you accept our attempt. Will be posting times in Stock class soon.

Regards
Terry

Off course you can just drive. Do what you want with your own track. But dust and other debrise will not make your laps faster.
And if your local track uses some particular tires, go with those.
But I will be vacuming my track and keeping it clean for dust. I will use faster tires than Kyosho and that's ,my choice. :-D

I just ran my glr also and did a 3.73 lap with it but I need to give some voodoo spice to it and get it to turn like my gla. Its pushing on exit if I'm to hard on the gas

Notes-car is finally turning but it has to much front grip now and little rear grip. Might try a stiffer spring in front to make it push a wee bit
Ljh this will be a tuff battle now that I have a glr to keep u on ur toes

Notes-changed out the rear tires that turned out to slicks from so much run time and ended up getting her groove back. Also 1 of the vents on top of the track was closed so track felt like it had more grip in the chicane where I was felling a loose car.
