March 2023 Results

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

We had 12 racers posting in 5 classes this month, with some VERY close racing for first in the main two classes. In Box Stock, 0.064 seconds separated 1st and 2nd and only 0.478 seconds in Stock, with PoorBoy taking the win in Box Stock and Traveler hanging on to the win in Stock. We couldn't be any closer than that, separated by fractions of a second in both classes. And congrats to danjoy25 who ran in four classes and set out to get all four cars under 5 minutes and did it! It's good to see some old names back, but where are all the new guys??? Come on! You can't improve if you don't post your results... For example, Carmine Lanza improved his box stock time by 16 seconds over the prior month, AlvBo by 8 seconds and Kevin Soukoroff by 4 seconds. Practice and posting your results will help you get faster!

Also please check my tabulations and let me know if I made any mistakes or missed anyone.

Cheers,

I'll be glad to, but I don't think its the setup but the race lines that make me faster. The front tires are down to 22.1mm diameter, but I started around 22.5mm. I did put CA glue on the sidewalls of the PN KS Med tires to reduce traction rolling. 0.5mm shim above and 1.0m shim (2 x 0.5mm shims) below knuckle. Dry diff. You really have to work on polishing the kingpins and balls to get a silky smooth front suspension. After tire choice, that's probably the second most important tuning item. Keep at it and you'll keep getting faster. I started running the M96WC in 2019 I think.

I know. I am just wondering if anything you are doing will improve my car's handling.

How about wheels and offset? I have been using non-Kyosho wheels and some don't have the same dimensions as stock, forcing me to shim things to eliminate slop in the wheel mounting.

I run PN Delrin dish wheels almost exclusively. They are strong and true. On the NSX I run 0N/1W offsets. I did put CA glue on the PN KS Med tire sidewalls to reduce traction rolling (will edit previous post to include this). I always use good tire tape (R246) to tape the tires to the wheels and sometimes use a thin bead of CA to glue tire and rim where they meet (but not usually for Box Stock).

But the most important thing you can do is practice. Hope this helps!
