Default big dog question

RCBUM, is a SC series 550 motor legal for the big dog class? rules say something about any SC motor but no 1/8 scale....

You bet I have thought about trying one myself. I have a spare 4 pole I may try. I think either will have lots of torque off of the corner. I still run the old CC 5700kv. and love it.

Those Novak 550 ballistic 4.5 and 5.5 winds are sick. Bum will back me up my heavy as a brick slash 4x4 would wheelie down the straights if i goosed it. It would flip over backwards if i didn't put the center diff in and detuned it to put the power on the ground.

I ran a 550 balistic in my jammin as a sclm and was actually slower than my stock slash was as an sclm. The velineon system was way faster actually. Sean and i both had lots of issues with our electronics trying to run the 550 motors. They draw a lot of current which overheats the esc and makes it thermal.

Not with an rx8 it wont thermal. Mine was an animal and never got overheated at all. I dont see the stock slash set up having nowhere near the torque of the 550 cans.

Well believe it or not it is a fact. I didnt have the best of the best RX8. And both times i raced my slash in oval i dominated the day. That was not the case with the Jammin and the 550 set up. Bigger and best doesnt mean you will be faster than a well set up car. But, i was also running a 4x4. These guys and gals are running sub 6 second laps with 2wd 540 set ups!

Oh, well of course a 550 4.5 will have more torque. I thought we were talking about the overall performance.

I'm looking forward to the Operation Santa Claus race! It appears that the average sprint lap time has gone down by several tenths of a second - yikes
