That's all about frequencies. 1:10 shocks are way too big to absorb higer frequencies from the contact of the road, so we need something else to absorb it. Carbon fiber was a good candidate. Now there is also a matter of hysteresis. On this point I think Mg is between CF and Al, that's why I like it. I have the flex chassis, which is quite stiff I think, I can't get the weight now but I will try to get it soon.

Just curious, what do you consider high frequency? And why are you concerned over absorbing the high frequency vibrations? I'm not doubting you, just trying to learn.

Is the stiff mag chassis too stiff for medium grip asphalt? Would rather go with what works best but having to add a bunch of weight is no good.

With the tease of the new X20 yesterday, does anyone think that this is it for the 4x platform? The way I see it, they could have opted to call it an Eryx 5 (given that the Eryx was meant to be the “starter” TC platform for Serpent enthusiasts), but the fact that it has a new name and completely new design makes me think that 4X is being relegated to the back-burner.

I can’t help feeling a little burned. I purchased the (relatively new) 4x Pro in late July, simply because it was an out of the box offering. Now it looks like the future might be back to a more conventional design (albeit with the current mid-mount craze, thanks to that Medius decal on the hood of the teaser). I’ve had several things going on, so I haven’t been able to get everything I need to start building the car yet, so it’s still in the box. Given that it’s likely to use the same shocks as the 750 (the Eryx apparently does), I would probably want to switch just for the potential parts share around that... Anyway, just venting over here - carry on.

Yea, I'll be pretty disappointed if that is it for the 4x. I was loving the car and when I first bought it, I wanted something different and it was a toss up between the 4x and the AMX. I hope I didn't make a mistake by going Serpent. I'm really liking the 4x and I hope they continue to develop the car.

I do think this is it for the 4x but I'm keeping mine for now.

Alright, alright, I’ll quit the Chicken Little banter for now, lol. At least Felix Law has kicked some butt the last few races he’s been in with the 4X. It will sure be a good sign if he continues running the car.

Felix can do the same with any car he drives

I have no doubt of that - but if he starts showing up at races with the x20 instead of the 4X, then we’ll know for sure what Serpent’s agenda is...

Or he’ll be lured over to INF1NITY like everyone else and we’re all screwed!

He would be too. I can't remember the last race Infinity TC won.
Especially in the ETS.

Haha, I haven’t followed the ETS too closely, but from the videos I’ve seen, it’s usually the Bruno and Ronald show, with the occasional guest appearance by Alexander.

why would a sponsor racer race an old car when they have a new kit to promote and sell?

The new design could not possibly work in the 4X because the lower arms on this new car are very long and attach very close to the center line of chassis. In the 4X, the bulkheads and suspension/heave shocks would be in the way...
