just curious, at 160 shipped is the TA07Pro a good buy? Or would you wait for the R?

The R is going to be significantly more expensive, so I wouldn't compare the 2. That price is an excellent deal especially if the car is unused. However, if you are planning on upgrading with hop-ups, there are some other really good deals in the for sale section. Mine included.

I am almost done with my build. I ordered a standard 48P Robinson 55T spur and was going to use a 28T pinion for a FDR of 4.0 for USVTA (25.5T).

The spur was too small and I could not slide the motor far enough without hacking the adjustment slots so I have ordered a 60T spur to remedy.

Curious from anyone else running 25.5T or other what you are doing?

I run 64p and aim for a 3.5-3.75 fdr in 25.5. But my tracks are all pretty big so I need to top end. I would think a 4.0 would only be necessary on a really tight track in 25.5.

So I could try a 32T pinion then with my 55T spur and end up at 3.59 FDR. Not sure if that will be enough to use existing slots, check when I get home.

I'm new to onroad and still not totally sure on the magic of spur selection, I clearly understand the FDR concept but what the difference is whether I achieve it with a 55T, 60T or 85T to be extreme example as long as I adjust pinion to achieve desired ratio.

Thanks.

FDR is FDR, so the spur/pinion selection doesn't really matter in terms of the drivetrain.

what it does impact is weight balance and motor position. you can fine tune some of that weight distribution based on spur/pinion size. but that's more advanced that my driving cares about right now. otherwise, i'm unaware of any differences created by various spur/pinion combos.

Makes sense, I am starting with the motor in the farthest forward position and go from there. I've been racing TT01 Euro Truck, so I am sure the TA07 will be surgical precision comparably.

Is the carbon chassis that much stiffer than the stock one?

I'm using the TA07pro with the castle 5700kv motor and 28t pinion just to have some parking lot fun and the thing is balistic. I was using the Hobbywing Xerun 10.5t before and it was very quick but the castle just woke it up! I don't like the sensorless castle ESC though. The Hobbywing was much smoother. Just got back into the hobby and so glad I went with the TA07. My last Tamiya was the TA04R NSX. I'm also experimenting with the FF03 Castrol Civic and the F103GT Nissan GTR LM. Soon getting my hands on the RM01 as well!

Well, a 10.5T is usually around 3500kv - so obviously slower than a 5700kv (which is around 6.0T kv-wise). So, if you prefer something sensored, with the same speed...

How long are the belts supposed to last on avg? My belt is starting to stretch a bit. Increased the tension but still seems too loose and a bit noisy.

Eagle Racing is ok, until you crash... And then it is back to square one...
