Good Point.

I was going to rebuild it bone stock with no hop-ups and display it.

Yes of course.. is it the yokomo with 2 belts, 4 tires, 4 shocks, 4 arms, camber links... then yea, they do look similar.

stay in denial all you whant, they copied another cars design and concentrated on trying to improve on the rest of the car, not a bad thing, but you guys are smoking something if you think its totally unique!!

Every car manufacturer takes ideas and concepts from every other manufacturer and uses, incorporates, adapts, or modifies them for their car. The details are what's important. Look at most F1 cars. To most people, they all pretty much look alike. At least they look as similar to each other as all the current RC touring cars look alike. But there's no way anyone can say that they are all copies of each other. There's HUGE differences in the performance of those cars. It's all in the details.

Looks a lot like a Tamiya and a Yokomo. Deck between the belts, removeable diff and center shaft plates, motor placement, etc. I can't wait to get one, but many of the design features are very similar to both Tamiya and the Yokomo. I'm not saying they copied anyone, but other cars already have these features on production models. Only question now is how much and when. Oh yeah, and when is the T3 going to be available? I'm all for tech advances, but can hardly afford to keep up.....

when you have rules, as in rc racing, there are certain parameters you have to build a car in ie wheel base, length, width, ride height...., so ya the cars are all gonna have some sort of basic layout that looks the same to people that dont understand mechanical things very well, the earliest I remember seeing this layout, main lower chassi, narrow top deck, rear engine, batteries all on one side, 4 wheel drive was the langraf dominator in the mid 80`s so any one that thinks a car built in the last 5 or so years was the first with this layout doesnt have a clue.......

Good News is that it looks like many parts will be backwords compatible.
-Universal Font & Rear Arms
-Front Knuckles, Rear Uprights, C Blocks and Drive Shafts.
-4mm Body Posts (maybe, depends on the mounting)
-Front lower and Upper Bumpers. (Again epending on mounting)
-Shocks
-Front & Rear Shock Towers with different roll centers
-And who knows, maybe with a few mods the bulkeads will even fit.
I think the FK05 owners will have a new array of hopups to choose from.
I wouldn't be surprised if people even stick with the 05 and upgrade parts to suit their condition.
If Xray keeps up good parts support, this may mean 2 Great cars to choose from.

More than 4 years almost 5. At the time the newest and best from yokomo was the MR4TC WC Hara version. When was he World Champion? 2000?
I remember I bought the first car and raced it in 2001 beggining of season.
By the time I got it it was already available for a few months and I was gaining courage to buy it because there was no support of parts in my country.

Tamiya had a lot of cars coming out in 2 - 2 1/2 years. EVO3, EVO3 Surikarn Edition, 415, 415 MS, 415 MSX, EVO4, EVO4 MS.
When I got my 415MS the 415 was fairly recent. Included the new suspension arms that could be retrofited on the orig 415. The same you can do with the conversion kit for the MS -> MSX.
Look at Xray timing. It's roughly 1 car per year. Of course options and refinements keep coming but a new car is almost 1 complete year.

Probably right about the suspension arms, but what about all the other parts? I'm guessing it's a lower percentage on the whole car. But I'm not a specialist on Tamiya at all.

Still....was the MSX not the last car to market with this layout??

What about the cyclone? what about the Yokomo BD? what about other makes such as Atlas and other cars from around the world....

if you focus on strictly the layout of the drivetrain and bulkheads they will ALL appear very similar...how many times does it have to be said...the differences are int he detials

Seems like Xray supports their older models really well......they still have EVO2 parts-a-plenty as of a month ago, so it's safe to say that parts shouldn't be a problem for a long time.

Looks like the same springs will fit the T2,as the T1, under the features of the T2 it list the same spring kit part number to get as is used on the older cars.

mdoc, You really don't think that Hudy looked at some design features of other cars and said, hey I like that idea, I think I'll put that on my next car. You think he came up with the rear bulkhead and belt layout on his own, without studying the msx and the bd? If that's what you think, you're the one who doesn't have a clue.
